Popson Park, an urban wilderness within the city limits of Lethbridge. Rather remote on the south end and quite isolated, it is a Rattlesnake Reservation. Situated in the Old Man River Valley, accessible by gravel road and then a long climb down the coulees on a steep shale and dirt trail. Unwisely, I was wearing slide sandals and an expensive dress (to do a landscape/portrait shoot with The Mystic for Treklens). Unfortunately (perhaps luckily), we did not run into any snakes. I found this unspoiled fall scene very appealing and want to share it with you here. Enjoy!!

Hi Christan,
Nice landscape picture with autumn colors. Well captured and nicely composed. Matching colors for frame are great, but if they are too bright, then they (bright colors) tend to 'steal' beauty of the picture.

Hi Christan,
Nice shot, this looks exactly like it was shot here on the land where I live.
Good detail and I like the mix of colors here.
Nice work & TFS!
Hello Christan,
"unspoiled fall scene", this is exactly what makes this image outstanding. Very well chosen, taken, and presented. Subtle natural colours, and a lot of dynamical rhythm in this great composition. Looks like a perfect painting.
Sheer wilderness, the place looks very remote and hard to enter. Quite amusing to read in your notes you went there in sandals, and dressed up as for the opera. :)
With thanks, and best regards,
Peter
Somehow your frame seems a little complex. Subjective impression, yeah, maybe I just don't like those colors.
I've walked this park many times with our dogs. It has been a major challenge to get anything good from the perspective of landscape pics, at least with my limited skills. This is a good effort, and it nicely describes what the park is like. A dominant foreground element might have drawn the viewer's eye forward. That small bit of deadwood at foreground, camera right, seems a distraction.
Although I've seen a lot of snakes there, you are pretty safe. Over that past decade in Lethbridge there are only two reported cases of snakebite to the lower limbs. With a massive denominator, you are far more likely to be hit by a car on the way home.
Cheers,
Dave
