Hi All,
Evelynn and I recently had a moose battle which she won hands down with a fantastic shot of a large bull aggressively running them off, an amazing image. If you haven't seen it already you should go to http://www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=187615
But I found a leftover in my archives which I thought I would share with everyone today. This young bull was feeding on aquatic vegetation in a beaver pond at Waterton Lakes National Park.

Hi Rick,
Its hard to beat that shot from Evelynn but this one is still an impressive one. It looks like you surprised him a little while he was eating. The water dripping off him gives me that idea.
A wonderful photo with good details and a beautiful moment.
TFS,
Niek

Rosa

Good morning to you Rick.
Well if there was a battle of the moose, well I can say you both came to a draw as this image is equal to Eve's images.I like the closeness you have in this capture as it gives us an excellent view of all the fine details.I have seen many moose during the years I have been here in Alberta and given that I would not want to live anywhere else,Alberta is my true home! Nature and her beauty is something you honor every time out and for that,I thank you kind sir.It may be very cold now but a photo of this sort warms me and thank you for sharing it with us. Bob

Hi Rick,

How could you have forgotten this one? It's great. Besides the wonderful moose, the water rushing from his mouth and the water droplets from his antler are fantastic. Great timing to capture the water as it hits the pond.

Jane

Hello Rick, lovely and fantastic shot.
TFS and regards,
Bahadır

Ooh... he is a BIG boy! He looks so fat! Looks like you got pretty close to him. I don't take bull moose out of the rut season for granted... they can still be unpredictable... as we learned. It is their habitat and their restaurant after all... no matter how unappetizing it may appear to us. I'd be pretty skinny if I had to stand in the middle of a cold lake to eat!

It is a great shot. I love the immediacy of it... with the water splashes and his awareness of your presence. The exposure looks good and the sharpness excellent. I'm glad you didn't find this earlier. : )

Hi Rick

Ha-ha-ha, tough cookies for coming second with the competition, but as you said Evelynn's image of the bull throwing its toys out of the cot is quite something. However, your docile bull (cool as it looks) maybe didn't beat the water or kicked up as much water spray, bit he is trying for sure, even though it's just a trickle of water dripping from his mouth and anthers (chuckle).

The animal stands out well against the neutral coloured water surface which served as a lovely BG. Good DOF, sharpness, POV, lighting and composition.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

PS. Pardon me for my short comment as I am rather pushed for time this year. It is more important that I want to thank you for the friendship you extended to me (and Anna) this past 2008. Also, I want to wish you and your loved ones a joyous Christmas and a wonderful New Year. May this Christ-fest and the imminent 2009 bring you everything that is beautiful and admirable, provide all your needs with blissful exuberance, present you with that which is edifying and inspiring, grant you blessed peace and harmony, and bestow upon you a myriad of worthwhile pleasures and breathtaking moments with close friends and dear family.

Hi my dear friend Rick,

Superb capture in a fine composition with wonderful POV/DOF and nice details.

BEST WISHES AT THE WINTER SOLSTICE AND FOR THE COMING YEAR!

Bayram
