A superb portrait of a Steller's Jay taken from an excellent frontal POV with great sharpness and the head turned to give fine eye contact and display the crest in a fine way.
I have fond memories of this species in the Yosemite National Park in Calif. when I was there 35 yrs ago. I wish I could have photographed it like this!

This is superb, Rick. It really is a fantastic portrait of this beautiful bird. Lucky you to have them out west! You really captured this bird with more than just technical skills, it is a real portrait. The colours are beautiful, very natural and without excess except for the blue feathers which are absolutely beautiful. Thank you, one of your best shot!

I have only seen 2 or 3 of these in all my years...so that alone gives this one some visual value. Beyond that you certainly picked up well on the wonderful sheen they have in the blue range. As all of you images, and taking into account your true humility, your photo here is just fine!

We don't often get to see a shot of a Stellers Jay and this indeed is a beautiful one. If I saw one I would probably get so excited I wouldn't get a picture. You captured him in a wonderful pose showing off his fantastic face and crest and his lovely feathers in fine detail. I love the eye! Beautiful colors and composition. I'm so glad you shared this with us.
