There are here, all told, only 18 images of some of the spiders around our home; we have many many more of them; large ones plus EXTREMELY EXTREMELY TINY ones. We also have the crab spiders that I've posted last year.

I used the 180mm Canon lens with 3 Kenko extension tubes + the Canon extension tube EF25 II.

These are dedicated to my South African friend, Ingrid Shaul, living in Hoedspruit Town, who is currently enjoying a well deserved holiday with her beloved Jim.

However, within THIS series I've included one that I think is a BABY BLACK WIDOW spider. In all probabilty I'm wrong about its ID. I only know that it is tiny, about 1/4'' (quarter inch) long... not even that; and it SPEWS OUT VENOM each time I approached the lens far too close to its comfort. It has HUGE FANGS at the end of its front claw-like apendages.

I also registered one that was rather LARGE compared to the ones within this series. Do not know its ID.

Here they are:

Quarter inch spider with "CLAWS".

Beads of venom all over its body.

Have a good look at its fangs.

Cannot ID this spider. HE IS A LARGE FELLOW.

Hi, dear Mario.
I am impressed with amazing set of spider photos. Very nice close-up of a very attractive scene. Lights and colours as well as details are great. However, I prefer to use smaller aperture value when I use macro lens. But it is matter of taste. Bravo and all the best to you and Bernardete.

Hola Mario,

Josep Ignasi.

Hi Aires,

Amazing macro capture of a Lycosid spider from wonderful POV with great clarity, fine pose, great DOF, and delightful composition.
TFS and greetings from Adana,

Bayram

Hi Mario
Great capture of this female spider and her egg sack. You have captured many spiders around your home, I think they are good to have around as they eat many bad garden bugs. Love the detail and colour here Mario.

Dear Aires,
Spiders live in almost every habitat on earth. The only places where there are no spiders are the polar regions, the highest mountains and the oceans. A few spider species have invaded the ocean's edge, living in the rock and coral crevices of the intertidal zone.

It is therefore appropriate, that you in freezing Calgary, and I in blistering Hoedspruit share an interest and respect for spiders.

I admire your patience for photographing these sometimes elusive house guests and thank you for dedicating this amazing series to me.

The details of your photos are impressive, and you have devoted a lot of time to your work.

Thanks for showing this series on TrekNature.
I am wishing you a peaceful evening,

Kind Regards
Ingrid
