I am Canadian, and don't you forget, mister, is what this Canada Goose seems to be saying. They are very handsome birds, but are becoming increasingly unpopular here and all over the world. They have stopped migrating south from many Canadian cities because they have learned where and how to keep warm in the winter in city parks and other places where water is warmer than it used to be and food can be scrounged. In these same parks the geese are loathed by humans because they produce an abundance of big, slippery poops.
This goose was encountered at The Forks in Winnipeg - the junction of the Assinaboine and the Red Rivers. He/she had just come out of the river and was glistening wet.
