Great Horned Owl Bubo virginianus

Habitat
Great Horned Owls can basically be found anywhere across Canada at any time of year. They have been seen in woodland, desert, marshland, and even city parks and so are believed to be very adaptable.

Lifespan
In captivity these owls are known to live over 30 years! Generally in the wild they live closer to 13 years. Majority of the fatalities of these owls are caused by man. Their only natural enemies are other Great Horned Owls and sometimes Goshawks.

Food Source
These aggressive Owls generally feed on small mammals and some birds. They have even been known to take out mammals as large as porcupines.

Size
The average wingspan can be from 3'-5'. It's body length can be from 18"-2'.

Nicely captured.
Alot against you, the chromatic aberations and slight overexposure.
A vertical crop would strengthen the composition.

really nice shot. In a tough lighting situation and a lot a branches that may disturb, you succeeded in showing most of the bird and details. They're hard to catch. Congratulations!
