"BABY ELK".

On 27th. September 2006 I had posted an ADULT of this species entitled "WHITE RUMP". To see its rump you will need to open the workshop. On the other hand, please go to the bottom of this note that reads: "Male baby elk in backyard. What a RUMP"!!! And, please open its link. Thanks.

By the way .... whenever you "open" the links you can further ENLARGE the images by clicking the right bottom corner of its icon if you wait a few seconds once the image is shown.

However, THIS baby, its sibling brother and mother were in our backyard..... just a minute now.... not in Calgary but a few Kms. east of Jasper National Park where we were wont to travel to, almost every weekend, when Bernardete's mother was not so aged and frail. Now, we can go only when and if some member of the family come over to care for her.... thereby giving us a break from this 24/7 job. My MOST BELOVED BERNARDETE loves this "section" (360 acres) of land within the Jasper Valley surrounded by the majestic Rocky Mountains. Within these lands we have seen couger, bears, mountain goats, lynx, and the most ferocious WOLVERINE. It also contains lovely water streams with fish, beautiful wild flowers too. This is and has been, for years, her secret hideout; I've been granted the great bounty to call her "wife"; she has, thus, shared her paradise with me. She has always been fully aware of my enormous appetite for the outdoors with its wild life.

We have known each other for well over 35 years now. We both live in HEAVEN. And, nothing and or no one can or will be able to alter this situation between the two of us no matter how "cunning" the person may be.

Here are some of the images from my BELOVED BERNARDETE'S PARADISE:

Eastern scenery from our backyard in Jasper, Alberta.

Southern scenery from backyard.

Northern scenery from backyard.

Female Baby elk.

Female "friendly" baby.

Male baby elk in backyard. What a RUMP!!!

Saying "good-bye".

You can read details about these species RIGHT HERE.

Hello Mario,
What a lovely and gentle posting. I discover a true paradise thanks to your different links. Very kind and emotional homage to your wife, she must be delighted.
And this baby elk is so cute!! The picture is so vivid and perfectely taken. I also like the natural colors and environment.
Very well done!
Kindest regards
Anne

Dear Mario,
The faint spots on the side intrigue me: to the baby elk have more spots - when they are born - and do they fade, as the animal grows?
The pale bottom with dark, vertical stripe remind me a bit of impala bottoms...
Like always, you display technical perfection, and the little light in the animal's eye makes it alive.

Do the hair on the neck always stand up, or was it cold?

Last not least - I agree with everything you say about Jasper - it is a piece of paradise.

I really enjoy the image of this Elk baby and hope,
you enjoy the rest of the week.
Warm Regards
Ingrid

Hi, dear-dear friend.
I am here again and I am impressed a lot with your new shots. They are amazing as well as this one. I have opened all your link and have got a pleasure, especially from Bernardete's photo and her Paradise. Excellent quality of the image, touching not. All my warm wishes to you and your wife.
Alexei.

Hello Mario
gosh...I've been so busy at work...shame on me for taking so long to critique.

I do love your young Elk, he's really adorable. I love the way you captured him grazing so quietly and safely in the meadow. His colour is natural and love the whole composition.
