[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I went on a bit of a snowshoe hike yesterday; well 7 hours and almost 1000 metres of elevation gain actually. This is the larch meadows of Mt. Frosty in Manning Park. I posted a few shots of this area back in early October with the larches having their golden needles.
This was a tough shot to pull off as I was shooting almost directly into the sun, so even with a grad filter it stil came out improperly exposed. Fortunately I was able to correct alot of this in the RAW conversion.

Gee, you don't sit still for long do you? There has hardly been enough snow around here to go snowshoeing yet and here we sit with new snowshoes! Looks like you use only one pole. Poles, and packs, and cameras, and such and so forth can get cumbersome. I like this shot a lot. Isn't it fun to make the first tracks in fresh snow? I like this composition and you did really well shooting into the sun.

I love your tracks in the snow....were you out alone!!! You really brought the glare down nicely here. I know how much glare you can get off the snow and especially into the sun. The trees on both sides keep you eye in the centre of your image. Nicely done winter image.

the snowshoe tracks going off to infinity are very nice. nice lighting too.

Well this is a very well done shot both in the composition and the post production work. It is close to a black and white capture which is neat.

Hello Tim,
This is a long walk... 7 hours, ouf! I like this scenery a lot which remains of our typical winter scene here as well. The color and brilliance on the snow are superb and well calibrated. Most of all, I like this POV and DOF. This is beautiful with those majestic mountains in BG. Well done!

Hi Tim,
What a wonderful shot, the effect of shooting into the sun really paid off. It created an almost mistical atmosphere, especially if you compare the color of the sky with the snow covered landscape. I am amazed that you were still able to capture this much detail in the shaded parts of the tree. The track is wonderful and leads me into the scenery.
