This Amaranthus candatus is a native to the FAR EAST.
These grow wild in the land of my birth ... Goa, India.

Its a climber, & does so from 3' to about 5'.

It has long pendulous catkins with thousands of tiny
red-magenta blossoms. Individually the flower seems insignificant, but en masse they form a torrent of red like waterfalls tumbling in spirals down to the Earth.

It is used by native peoples for its strong penetrating colour.

Its essence has proven to be a powerful balm for those undergoing great physical and or psychic pain.
It has a GREAT HEALING POWER.

Hence, its title: "WILD MEDICINE".

Hi Aires,
I saw similar amaranthus plant in Indonesia, but I just know from you that this plant has healing power. Look like upper surface of leaves at top are a bit OE, perhaps due to their glossy surface.
Nice shot with a very interesting note.

Tal vez la agudeza y el colorido no sean los puntos fuertes de esta imagen estimado amigo, pero la composición , la belleza del espécimen y su valor medicinal ameritan la presentación de esta entrega.
Un cordial saludo desde Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Perhaps the sharpness and the colors are not the strong points of this image estimated friend, but the composition, the beauty of the specimen and their value medicinal deserve the presentation of this post.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hi Mario,
A little bright in some places, but the shape of the flowers is very beautiful. I always love to read about natural medicine, since there is still so much to explore in that area.
TFS,
Niek

great colorful photograph of a very interesting plant with alot of good uses as well! TFS Donna :o)

thanks for your comments on my photo "Mt. Mansfield , VT" and the honor of making it one of your favorites...:o)

Chenille plant, grew in my gardens. I never knew it could be medicine. i grew many herbs, flowers, veggies, fruits, it was a garden of so much joy to me. I love your picture! This is cinsidered an "old fashioned plant: in USA, meaning no one grows it any more. I ordered seeds all the time, and searched for interesting ones.
