| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a juvenile bald eagle, too young for its white feathers.
It was perched on a rock overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Sooke on Vancouver Island.
I was in a Zodiac boat when the guide pointed out the feathered creature and commented that it usually flys off when we get close. Using this cue, I set the shutter to "progressive" and tried to hold a steady level position in a moving boat whilst the nervous bird spread its wings and left the rock.
1/200 shutter speed shows some blur; had I been prepared for this, I would've upped the ISO to 100 and achieved a faster image capture.
Did I use a tripod? No. |
