[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
About a meter or three feet off the ground is a small hole pecked out by any number of flickers, downy and hairy woodpeckers. This is an ideal place for the very likeable Black Capped Chickadee to make home and nest in.I watched a pair of them cleaning "house" as they were busy removing wood clips and dumping them nearby.Back and forth they continued to do this preparation work so as to to raise a future family.I hope that this photo will be part of a series showing the intimate details of the chickadees lives,as I would love to get pictures of the young birds right up to them taking their first flight. The problem with taking this shot is how to deal with the twigs and branches that nearby shrubs and bushes put in the way,you see that they are part of the reason these little birds have chosen this particular location, the twigs and branches provide protection and I could easily remove them but that wouldn't be right.Chickadees are my favorite little birds so I will not put them in any danger, what to do?At any rate I will endeavor to try to get more of this little future family for all to enjoy. This photo is over exposed on the right hand side so how can I take the shot to make it better?Cropped and resized using Paint.Net. Bob

interesting persepective but the head needs a bit of sharpening.

Hi Bob,
Interesting picture and story. I hope they will make a nest there and you’ll be able to take more interesting pictures.
I saw one pair a week ago doing the same, but they changed their mind and moved somewhere else.
Have a good weekend, Mario.

Hi Bob,
Very interesting capture and story, the one solution I thought of right away is probably not on option and that is fill flash.
Great detail in your capture, thanks for sharing.
Rick

Hola Bob.- What a nice and beatiful photo. Very sharp and well focus. I like his home.
Luis52.

It is a scene with strong contrast in values. The important thing is that you got all the detail in the blacks and the whites of the chickadee. You haven't lost any detail in the right hand side and it is a simple matter of toning just that side down a bit with an adjustment layer.

Looking forward to seeing the new family.

Evelynn : )

Bob, your Cickadee is a bute! There is nothing wrong here. What you call overexposure, to me look like a wee blur in b/g
The bark is sharp, the bird's head is sharp.

I would try a different presentation. Two ideas are in WS. Tfs, J. { There goes my quota ;) }

Rob

Hi Bob,
I like the little Chickadee's too now that I have seen your image of one. How cute. So glad you took care and didn't damage their nesting area, a true Greenie. Nice neat hole the Woodpeckers make. Love image of extremely good quality.
Cheers,
Debbie
