I love the the soft shapes and colors of the background in your photo, JeanPaul. Very lovely. Your jay is nicely exposed and sharp with an interesting pose. I wish the most forward twig had been in focus as it is a little distracting.

Hi JeanPaul

Another well captured shot of this beautiful little bird.

What we (city dwellers and bird park photographers) probably sometimes tends to forget is how difficult it really is to shoot photos like this in a totally wild state. To be able to approach near enough without the subject fleeing and then to be able to compose the shot amidst all the branches and obstacles that might jump in front of the lens. And don't those obstacles just love to always be in the way? I mean, sometimes it seems like it is just lining up, one after the other. If you move one way something will always be behind the subject, which will distract, and when you move the other way, something would be in front of the subject, and so it goes on and on. So, it really takes skill, practice, and patience to be able to shoot this kind of shot in the wild.

Your composition is fine and I like how you managed to disguise the OOF twig in the front of the shot by lining it up with the main branch that the bird is sitting on. The lighting was well controlled ensuring great colours and contrasts on the subject and while there were so many twigs, branches, and leaves to deal with, you still managed to isolate the BG and used the OOF area to compliment the little blue jay.

Another lovely blue-jay shot from you!
Again the sharpness on the subject is exceptional and i realyl like its pose here - carefully observing something :)
The DOF is once again great and it isolates the subject very well from the canopy of the tree.
Good composition!

Beautiful! Stunning. I love this photo. The exposure is perfect. Lots of light on your subject but the colors are so natural. Amazing detail. Your excellent DOF gave you a perfectly blurred background to show a little greenery which compliments the jay nicely! Outstanding composition with jay in lower right one-third of frame. Great pose of jay and good eye contact.
