Hi my Old Friend!
One legged ol'pirate is here ;-) Great capture Mike, I like bird's pose, red eye and colour of water. Mix of civilisation and nature looks quite good this time :-)

Those are cute birds Mike. I have never seen one of them "in real". I think that they look funny like being a little disproportionate :) Exposure, details and composition are just great. You managed well with the white. TFS,

Hi Mike and nice to see you posting here again :)
This is a splendid shot of this lovely species - a rare appearance here on TN.
The pose of this heron here is charming and it really gave you a terrific look for a slpendid verycal composition.
The details are also very sharp and make every feature so well visible.
Lovely colors and DOF, too.
Bravo and TFS

Stunning work, Mike and good strong message too.
The dof is perfect (as if you didn't know (^o^))
And I must admit, as much as I enjoy your work with models, I still enjoy this side of you more

Hello Mike I just love Herons and I rarely get to be close enough, you got a good close shot here with nice details nice post processing on the heron I can see how harsh the light was on the ladder and stoney area in the foreground, yet how smooth and light the shadows appear on the dark side of the heron. Good selective post process work. I think you got a great combination of lens and Cam. One thing I love about Nikon is their Camera ergonomics it is a pity they haven't come up with a FF cam yet because they rely on Sony for their sensors. I gave up on Nikon after my experience with the CP5700 great cam on the outside and it certainly took nice pics especially macros, but it failed me because the cheap soft plastic gears that Nikon used for the zoom drive just sheared. I took the cam apart to have a look the gears were in bits. I went on dpreview to check other peoples experiences sure enough there were a few other peeps with the same problem the plastic they used I swear was so cheep you would find better quality in a childs cheap toy the rest of the inside mechanics was just as cheap but outside lots of apparent quality clever marketing! So I swore I would never touch Nikon again especially after I had just paid about £750 for a supposedly quality cam (UK prices at the time £950 what a joke for a amateur cam I had hardly used long enough). Wasted my money and no way of getting it repaired as I purchased it on a business trip in Korea I live near London. My experience with Canon is a different so far everything has just worked out the box, my 350D still looks like it was just purchased even after prob 40,000 actuations of shutter compared to the broken Nikon I used 1200 actuations works out at £1.60 for each photo I took with the God dam thing and prob only 20% of my photos worth keeping. My 5D and 350D will live for ever I hope anyway :-). So how come you moved from the Canon leader to Nikon you said it was a long story?
I do wish you luck if you really are a professional as I expect this line of business is difficult to make it big or to make a living from. For me it will remain a passion.
