Trillium grandiflorum.
Large-flowered trillium, white trillium.
This typical plant of the maple grove of the North-East of North America often forms large colonies which cover the underwoods in spring.
The flowers of the trille grandiflore (Trillium grandiflorum) open out in spring. Initially from white color, they shoot at the pink into growing old. A plant can live at least 26 years (the age is measured by the rings on the rhizome, but in the majority of the cases, the rings of more than 26 years are lost or are darkened by the rot).
The trilles do not flower before the 15 years age. The survival of the settlements is threatened in the areas where they are intensely grazed by the stags, since the plant dies out after approximately 12 years of repeated chattering.

Bonjour Janette.
Belle photo, j'aime bien. Dommage pour la branche dans le bas, qui dérange un peu. Bravo.

Ah, Ontario's provincial flower. I know it well. When you see this guy you know its spring. Very nicely done Janette. Excellent use of your depth of field in isolating this flower from the background, and picking up the great colour and detail that you have.
Thanks, John
