[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken just this past Saturday while I was out for a bike ride.As I was rounding a corner on the road I was traveling when I heard a large amount of honking and as I looked up to see what it was ,I saw this goose in a tree.I knew of geese perching in trees but until this day I had never actually seen them doing so and it struck me as rather surreal looking.Today I have added two workshop views as well for context.Image was chopped and resized using Paint.Net. Hi Bob,
I can't say I have ever seen a Goose in tree. Nice image of the Goose against the lovely blue sky, great POV. Good one.
Cheers,
Debbie

That is a bit unusual Bob! A goose who thinks it's a wood duck.

Hi Bob,
Oh my god, that is a bit unusual photo! Seem it is unreal. :)

Hello Bob

That is a new one on me.Thanks for capturing this for us.I,like most Canadians have probably seen millions of geese in my lifetime, but never one in a tree.Well taken, with good focus and details. The WS shots are neat too.Very good POV.TFS

hello Bob

Hi Bob,

A fantastic and unusual shot! The way the goose is just standing there fitting right into the space is amazing. Wonderful colors. I love the composition with the interesting tree branches.

Jane

Well, I have to admit I have never seen a goose in a tree...and we have thousands of Canadian geese nearby. It is quite a dramatic shot with few elements and colors but very interesting shapes and subject. Nice work...good eye or ear should I say?

Evelynn : )

Howdy Bob,
I keep looking at this one, and keep wondering what exactly I want to say. I have yet to find the way to express my reaction.
And am continuing to play with this shot in WSs... It is an enigma.

Tfs, Jay

PS I wonder how often it needs to be mentioned that this is a CANADA goose... Not a Canadian goose... dare one even mention the Cackling Goose???

The Cackling Goose was originally considered to be the same species or a subspecies of the Canada Goose, but in July 2004 the American Ornithologists' Union's Committee on Classification and Nomenclature split the two into two species, making Cackling Goose into a full species with the scientific name Branta hutchinsii. The British Ornithologists Union followed suit in June 2005.

The AOU has divided the many associated subspecies between both animals. To the present species were assigned:

* Atlantic Canada Goose, Branta canadensis canadensis
* Interior Canada Goose, Branta canadensis interior
* Giant Canada Goose, Branta canadensis maxima
* Moffitt's Canada Goose, Branta canadensis moffitti
* Vancouver Canada Goose, Branta canadensis fulva
* Dusky Canada Goose, Branta canadensis occidentalis
part of "Lesser complex", Branta canadensis parvipes
The distinctions between the two geese have led to a great deal of confusion and debate among ornithologists. This has been aggravated by the overlap between the small types of Canada Goose and larger types of Cackling Goose. The old "Lesser Canada Goose" was believed to be a partly hybrid population, with the birds named taverneri considered a mixture of minima, occidentalis and parvipes. In addition, it has been determined that the Barnacle Goose is a derivative of the Cackling Goose lineage, whereas the Hawaiian Goose is an insular representative of the Canada Goose.
