haha when I saw the thumb nail image I thought some one has stuffed a soft toy into a letter box but I see now its a over sized critter who has taken up residence in a bird box. Excellent capture!

A very cheeky squirrel. This looks like a very tight squeeze. You have already pointed out the soft focus, but with such a candid shot such as this I don't think it really matters.

This is absolutely wonderful! Technically very good with great depth-of-field and composition, but more importantly, you captured the decisive moment! The way this little guy has positioned his hands on the perch and the roof of the bird house and is squeezing himself out of the whole is just perfect!

C'est amusant cette impression que l'animal s'étire autant qu'il peut pour passer dans le trou du nichoir. Je suppose qu'il s'agit d'un écureuil... Merci pour le partage.

Indeed squirrels can eat eggs. But if you saw him bringing stuff inside, I guess he made the bird house one of his homes. They can have several. One for the little ones to grow, and others as resting point or backup solution. They can also build the nest themslves. A squirrel nest is round (i.e there is a roof) and all entries are closed.

A mon tour de te félicditer pour cette prise. J'ai déja vue cela dans une des cabane d'oiseau d'un de mes voisin. Cette prise est excellente. C'est remarquable de voir l'écureuil sortir du trou avec l'aide de ses deux pattes. Une position innédite ! J'aime ce que "Livio" a fait avec ta photo.

I’ve chosen to add a comment to this photo out of your beautiful collection because it illustrates a fact of life not known to many: Red Squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) are important nest predators of North American birds. Just as this one checked the nestbox for a nesting place, they search for eggs and chicks of birds in tree hollows. In this particular case, the squirrel acts as a competitor for a nesting site. Life isn’t easy in the wild and your picture tells it clearer than words.
