A mystery?
I stumbled upon this swan at nest while walking in Tommy Thompson Park, one evening. It was busy tending its eggs and did not seem to notice me.
A week later, I returned to the site with a friend, this time by canoe. To our surprise, the swan was gone and the nest had disappeared. No trace of the nest was left, not even a broken shell or a feather. We came to the conclusion that perhaps the nest was removed by park attendants as a mean to control the population of swans. Later, in another part of the park, we found another swam nesting. I noticed a red ribbon on a shrub next to the nest, indicating, I assume, that this nest was allowed to stay. |

The details here are superb! and the expression of both care and interest. Too bad the nest was removed -- I am guessing that the eggs were taken (perhaps to be incubated and hand raised?)
