The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind ~ Bob Dylan

Seeds provide the vital genetic link and dispersal agent between successive generations of plants. One of the important functions of seeds and fruits is dispersal; a mechanism to establish the embryo-bearing seeds in a suitable place away from their parental plants. There are 3 main mechanisms for seed and fruit dispersal: (1) Hitchhiking on animals, (2) Drifting in ocean or fresh water, and (3) Floating in the wind.

The seeds of the Western Salsify or Goat's Beard are ideal for wind dispersal and for this reason are well spread across the North American continent.

Hi Silke,
A wonderful close up with a good abstract feel to it. These seeds always make for a very interesting and atractive look. Good work on the details and exposure. The chosen aperture did gave you great sharpness in the entire flower.
TFS,
Niek

What a great close up, lots of details on this interesting subject! Love blowing these and watching them float away on a breeze. TFS

Hello Silke,
Great detailed closeup, the color and light look perfect to me..
I think the green BG has given good contrast, letting us see into the depths of that age old question...Why me!?? ;-}}
And the answer is still blowin' in the wind..
Nice work & TFS!
Howard

Hello Silke

I love these Goat's Beard seed heads. The globe shape is interesting ,they remind me of the geodesic dome design. Each seed's parachute is already to disperse in a breeze. You have captured this well.very good POV with very good focus and sharpness. The lighting is very good.TFS

Hello Silke,
Delicate details in the seed soon to fly!
This is a well done close-up as they are difficult to focus properly...
Good details, attractive colours!

Hi Silke,
Lovely focus and exposure. The individual seeds look like tiny water fountains with the reflection. The green background makes them stand out beautifully.

Thanks for sharing.

Irmgard

Hi Silke,
there's alot more to look at here than meets the eye...the structures involved in creating this wonderful design is fascinating to study...and caught very well by you! You can see in the parachute shapes of the seeds sail how they disperse so easily by the wind..
Great shot.
Paul

Hi Silke,

A nice image of the end result of the dandelion blown away by the wind. The photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Pierre

Beautiful light and softness in this one. Good framing. Nice work.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Silke!

Your picture is very impressive by its sharpness and the abundance of fine details. It looks like a firework... but much more beautiful, or like a technical drawing. The picture is also very precious because of its ephemeral aspect: I just imagine what happens when the next breeze will come...

From the technical point of view, everything is perfect. In my personal opinion, I would postprocess the background and blur it a bit in order to give a stronger appearance to the main subject.

Kind regards
Markus
