[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have a very pleasant assignment at the moment: to capture beautiful sites and sights in my town. But since it is a town, with very few wild places left, I have to go to the furthest edges for TrekNature landscapes. I talked to one of the farmers on the edge of town and learned that the developers estimate are that subdivisions are being built at the rate of one concession road every ten years (concession roads are one mile apart in this part of the world). So I suddenly find myself wondering whether some of my landscapes will be only documentary curiosities in only a decade or two! Judging by how close the nearest subdivisions are to this one, it will be gone in less than ten years, and since it is close to two major roads, it will probably vanish under either a shopping mall or an industrial or commercial site.

I posted an image of this place a week ago and Lori Cannon said it would be interesting to see it in a month and again in the winter. Since the leaves seem to be turning so quickly, I drove back up to the same site and tried it again after only a week. The difference is really quite amazing. So I present to you this retake, that may make at least one critic a little happier with my work :D. The depth of colour change is natural, with the grasses getting more brown and the little patches of wildflowers showing off their best yellows and whites.
I changed my PoV a little this time to eliminate the tips of the pine trees, but I now have a fence line (which at least serves the purpose of showing that the horizon is straight)! Oh well, I didn’t come to TN because I was already a perfect, or perfectly satisfied, photographer :D.

Tech: composed in camera, taken in RAW, converted, resized, sharpened, added frame and the all-too-necessary copyright and signature (for more information on that, please see the “Photo theft” thread in the TrekNature forum: http://www.treknature.com/forums.php).

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day.

Hi Silke.
You have captured a really sweet place and you have done it perfectly. I like true autumn colour palette, excellent composition and POV, perfect details of whole image. Great refined landscape picture. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.

Ahhhh..the countryside is changing nicely. I can also feel it in my bones....big changes coming...A nice portrait landscape with the starts of this next season. I shall try to hold on to summer one more day, but nature is telling me no.

Hi Silke,

A beautifully composed landscape. The autumn colors are beautiful and the blue sky adds to the scene.

Hello Silke
A fine landscape demonstrating the autumnal season. The russets and reds look tantalising blended with the greens that still exist.

Hi Silke,
The word assignment is something I would like to have on my photographer resume. So far the assingment I had were making baby photos of my new niece and those that I gave to myself.
I like the difference in the two photos a lot. I am sure that next week they will be even more visable. The photo has a wonderful painting like feel to it.
TFS,
Niek

Hello Silke

Absolutely beautiful rural autumnal scene.Isn't too bad it doesn't last longer? The colours are vivid and well saturated.Excellent POV and DOF.The shot is well composed. It's raining here today so I imagine many leaves will be knocked off the trees today.Ah well it was nice while it lasted. Here comes winter.TFS

Hello Silke,
No doubt indeed, the autumn is coming!
This is a lovely and peaceful place, a green meadow surrounded by fine trees...
The fine light makes the colours stand out, and I can see there are already some reddish in the foliage!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Silke,
Wonderful autumn photo. Everything's very nice on it, except that bright "shadow" around the trees (on the blue sky), which means too heavy dose of adaptive lighting or curves adjustment - whatever this effect's called in Your photo editing software. I nevertheless like the image - it shows a colourful autumn. Tfs, best regards, László
