Wow! Now that is very orange..and what a good time for an unique picture. The use of the fill flash really helped you out. I always forget that. Of course I am usually not up at that time...Very nice...

Hi Donna,

I think that the use of the flash has given this a very interesting feel. It's quite easy to look at sunsets and sunrises in the abstract; almost as paintings. Your's brings us detail of where you were sitting when you took the picture and this seems to give the picture an air of reality. It draws me into the picture somehow. Great experiment.

Well done Donna on that sunrise ! The flash does give the image more depth but I'm still not sure :-) Maybe a tripod with a longer exposure would have give you something different. I really like the mood in this picture. Thanks !

We had some weird sky lately too and I did make some images this morning, maybe I post later...

Personally I think the flash was a good idea, to bring some foreground into the composition...

Hi Donna,

I don't think flash works on these kinds of shots, well not for me personally. The flash only lights a few feet and leaves the photo with an odd feeling of cool light in the foreground and the warm light in the background. I think a better option would be to get the camera mounted on a tripod (as EOSF1 suggested) and either use a graduated ND filter to even out the dark foreground and light background or take two exposures one metered for the FG and one for that gorgeous coloured sky and combine them in photo editing software.

Worth experimenting though!

I like this scenery and composition a lot. I do feel the use of flash a bit but I am not the best person to give you some advices about it as I'm just beginning to use it. I would have been curious to see the same picture with a longer exposure and no flash. This is anyway a very nice picture with impressive colors. Thanks,

Thank you for visiting and pleasant words. This picture is charming at highest range. True refined art work. Terrific scene and skill of its reproduction. It is clear the red tones of the sunrise are wonderful. But I am impressed with the reflection of the dark FG. It is amazing too. Great weak light and hardly noticeable details. Composition, POV and framing are blameless. My compliments and best wishes.
