Hello everyone, I am back for a short while as the moving is almost finished: it's a two-part moving, the second part will take place next week. Ouf!

But I needed to relax a little bit and as I didn't take pictures this week I am proposing you this one, shot last summer at St-Fortunat, located in the southern east part of Quebec, when I went to visit some friends. My friends have digged a pond from a natural source on their land and it is being colonized by some fauna, lots of critters and frogs. The pond is filled with dragonfly nymphs and frog eggs, tadpoles, etc.

My friend likes to swim every day in it but complains that she is the only one willing to do it. To her suprise, my boyfriend joined her but I'll be true to you, I stayed quiet on the shore as I could see the many critters swim freely and sunbathing along the small beach. Ouf, go figure out why she is the only one swimming there! My friend is a real Mother Nature.

She told me that early this summer, there was a huge gathering of frogs for the mating season. She would hear them hop at night to get to the pond and she could also hear them fight, the clash of their bodies making a weird sound! She couldn't stand it... They would also make a loud chorus, calling to mate... what an incredible phenomenon to witness.

We found this small frog-to-be sunbathing (at the "metamorphosis" stage) in the afternoon. To give you a sense of scale, you can see the thumb of my friend holding that little tough cookie. The pond was filled with them, with eggs and all kind of stuff to swim with when you feel lonely.

Go on Wikipedia, they have a lot of useful information. I tried to include it but it is quite long and editing frustrated me as when I cut it sometimes cut all the way up the text.

Hope you enjoy and have a great day!

Francine

Hello Francine,
this is a nice catpure of this cute little frog on your hand.
+++ It looks very fragile and I love the head-on POV.
Good sharpness and detail.
--- Nothing :)
Well done!
Thanks,
Joe

Francine;
A very cute tiny little frog. The addition of hand gives it a complete size view. Otherwise we would have nothing to compare with. I wish others would do it sometimes. Much appreciated.
Bob

Bonjour Francine, très joli ce petit batracien qui semble bien aimer ton 350D ! Bien vu et bonnes qualités techniques. Bravo et merci.

Hello Francine
What a cute little frog. He sure is tiny, I wonder if he is a Chorus Frog. Excellent DOF, sharp details and vivid colour. Very cute!

Bonjour francine !

Wow! Excellent shot! Looks really funy with the frog/ toad in this posture. Superb use of the finger as scale and good composition.

Nice shot. Including the hand is great as it gives us a sense of how big the frog truly is. The lighting and clarity are great. ANother splendid shot.
