You did really well to get this shot!
I have only done a few bird postings as, like yourself, I find them very difficult! But, you have to be proud of this! Hawks very rarely visit gardens! How lucky are you!

You have captured him with good sharpness, excellent eye contact and lovely details of his breast feathers! My compliments!

Yes..I would say it was worth the cold feet :)
Very good detail, color, and you managed the exposure nicely. A well composed frame, and I like the POV from below, it makes this guy look larger than life somehow ;}

Fine capture of a fine visitor to your garden!
You're right this is a Cooper's: a young bird just gaining its adult plumage.
Beautiful lighting and a fine composition portraying this bird with pretty good sharpness.
Perhaps this is a start to more bird photography?

Hi Silke, wow, how fast you've been to get that one! I saw one in my garden once, exactly posed like this one on a tree branch. By the time I got the camera it was gone. I can imagine you running outside to get the photo. It sure was worthed to get that beautiful Cooper's hawk with its red eyes. It's a big and beautiful bird, wonderfully captured: you have good reflexes! You sure got close! TFS,

Hello Silke,
Exciting this game we play trying to capture wildlife for others to view. Your cold feet and possible strange looks from neighbours were well worth the results that you achieved in this splendid capture. Silke if you have a bird feeder around you may see him again as they like to strike at the birds when they are busy feeding at a feeder.

What a wonderful encounter.The cold feet was well worth it.
Well composed with very good sharpness and details.
The lighting is well handled.
Excellent eye detail.
I had a young peregrine falcon stake out my bird feeder one morning.A Mourning dove nearly got it but managed to evade him,talk about excitement.
Well done.

Of course you can do birds! This one is excellent, very sharply in focus and showing sharp details and fine colours. The trouble is they don't always settle where you want them to be! The composition is very nice too!

The same thing happened to me once and this is much impressive when you see this kind of bird in your backyard :)! You will remember this moment for a long time I guess. You did great on this capture; I never had the chance to photograph one correctly... You caught a nice pose with great catch-light. Well done!

Lucky you.They will stop almost everywhere to rest, but they do not stay for long.At least not long enough to grab a camera and get out to shoot a couple of pictures.
Considering all this, this is a picture to be proud of.
The eyes are so sharp, the ideal.
A good pose.
