Hello Bob,
Your notes say it all!
Thomas
Hello Bob,
Disturbing reminates of what was once a beautiful bird. Your notes display your passion for wildlife. Thanks for sharing Bob.

Unfortunately this is not unusual or indeed isolated....the gross abuse that is carried out in all it's guises has no excuse....I feel you are justified in uploading this image, but looking at the amount of people who have viewed it, just about says it all....This site may be about Nature and Photography, but most people do not want to see or be reminded of the ugly side of nature. Do not "out of here" but stay and continue what you believe in, after all, conservation is just as important and valid.
Hello Bob
I'm really lost for words, but this picture says so much. It's something that hurts deeply to see that there are people who enjoy doing it. I understand perfectly your mood. I hope your knee get well soon and you get out of that breaking point as well.
My best wishes

Hi Bob,
I empathise totally with your feelings.
I've posted a couple of dead bird shots myself, though not related to hunting.
You're right ... most people would rather just look at pretty images, but this is the reality of life.
Sorry to hear you've been bummed out lately.
I suffer from depression myself and find life hard to bear a lot of the time.
Hope things pick up for you soon.
Cheers
Steve

Hello Bob
I never understood the thrill of going out into nature and slaughtering God's creatures.I can understand the need for food ,the Inuit kill a seal and eat or use every last bit of the animal. But as you say for "Sport" I can't see the sport in it.
I always used to joke, when we start arming the deer with rifles and they become competent at shooting them ...well now that would level the playing field.
Your photo is evocative and shows the unseemly side to man's interaction with nature.
It is a reminder that for all those who are trying to protect it there will always be those who disrespect it too.

Hi Bob, I really understand your hurting for this spoiling of living beauty. I felt the same when I visited a commercial place where they raise chickens. Your photo shows very well your feelings and I can of have a hard time looking at it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and emotions over that issue that is very far of being resolved. Thanks,
Francine

I'm sorry you are in such low mood... it is hard not to be these days. At least you live in Canada where I think a bit more sanity may prevail... maybe. Sometimes I think it best if the humans became extinct and let the rest of the world continue without our interference.

Your reply to my Solstice Scatter Shot where I literally sprayed that textual tidbit like buckshot amongst ducks reminded me that I have been sadly remiss, and been neglectful of my good friends on TN!
I share your outrage , your passion, as expressed in your photographer's notes and in this photo.
[ Browse my gallery, and see for yourself! ]...
WE , manUNkind, are one of the most lethal species that inhabit this wonderful creation. What a sad comment!
Killing for survival of the species is one thing, killing as a sport, or by neglect is quite another.
Your shot here highlights one of the baser instincts that is in manUNkind.
The only consolation is that the carcass cleaners and cemetery critters had a "fieldday"...
Well tomorrow we celebrate the return of the light...
Let's focus on that, and "move forward" my friend!
As always, ;j.
PS I will forgo the usual PoV , compo, etc. remarks!
And finally as a footnote I would rename this shot: "Remember the Passenger Pigeons?" It's senseless my friend.

Hi Bob
Say it as it is...
Don't hold back and don't spare the ignorant fools who do this kind of thing for "FUN".
It is never nice to see this especially in such graphic detail. Yet, the truth is that it continuously happens out there and too many boneheads just won't get the message that this behaviour is not acceptable and cannot continue. Nature is not an inexhaustible source that will keep on replacing whatever man has raped or destroyed. As you said, there is nothing sporty about this one sided battle.
The other big problem I have with this is the fact that we possibly only see a fraction of the carnage this idiot has caused on this day. You mentioned that "It only took 18 blasts to bag this unfortunate creature from a shotgun", however you probably said that because you saw 18 shotgun shells lying on the scene (we can see 2 in the photo). Conversely, if the shells are lying next to this dead bird it surely did not kill this bird as the shell that killed this bird probably lies some distance away from this scene. My concern is that the killing blows received from these shells almost certainly were aimed and fired at many other birds further away.
Sad, but well done and TFS.
Best regards
Loot
PS. On a brighter note, my wish for you and your family during this Christmas season is one of love, joy, and happiness and also the well know passage: "peace on earth and good will among people" or alternatively "peace on earth to men of good will".
