Hi Rick,

I truly do believe that animals dream - I know my dogs did! I can't believe that the same species of deer that live in the Sonoran Desert and survive the triple digit summers, can be seen lying in the snow. Beautiful shot of a lovely animal in a wonderful setting. Brrr.

I like this beautiful picture with excellent lightning, unusual subject and great details. This is a superb specie. Yes, animals dream actually, I have seen my cats being agitated and talking in their sleep so they must be dreaming, about what? Birds or mice or me, lol! Thanks,

Those little mule deer are quiet the "hoppers" I saw some old video I have of them just the other day...A peaceful shot of the deer relaxing in the sun. She looks right at home...of course...she is at home!

Hello Rick

To sleep perchance to dream.Ay there's the rub.
I believe they do dream,my dog used to chase rabbits in his sleep I am sure of it.
His eyes would REM and his legs would twitch like he was running,and let out muffled barks.
A lovely job here MF,the lighting is wonderful with lovely focus and sharpness.
I like how she is in a little grove ,and the small tree trunks surround her.
Nicely done.

I have to concur with Rob and Joe. Dogs definitely dream. I always felt guilty when I moved my labrador from Alaska where she had the entire state at her disposal, to a suburban area with fences. I used to hope that her sleeping running feet were chasing rabbits and such, and her little yelps were barking at bears. The entire rest of her life if she saw the vehicle door open she would get in and hide there... knowing that it took her away from her beloved home and thought it would/could take her back again.

Your pretty deer is probably thinking , "oh bother" another human! I wonder if he has an apple in his pocket.

Hi Rick,
I definately think animals dream! My dog is always dreaming.
You can see his paws running and his tail wagging while he sleeps.
He's a very quite dog and rarely barks except when he is sleeping!
This is a beautiful photo!
The snow is wonderful!
Excellent exposure and lighting.
Very sharp and detailed.
Great eye-contact and a good POV.

Hi Rick,
this is a beautiful photo of this peaceful looking doe.Do animals dream? Why certainly they do,if you have pets like cats or dogs you already know that to be true just watch the movements they make and the sounds uttered while they sleep.All animals that play and romp about just for the joy of it are purported to be of a higher intelligence and do dream when sleeping.The question that can't be answered is just what they might be dreaming of.Animals know fear,pain and joy just like we humans so it makes sense that they do dream at least mammals do ,I'm not sure about the others such as reptiles and insects,it seems to me all that is needed for a dream is a brain and warm blood.Great question and a toughie to answer.

This photo has all the things that make it look good and I see nothing more that need be done to it.Thanks for giving us this view of the dreamy doe and all the best of the season to you and yours. Bob

Wonderful portrait shot and you have captured a fabulous expression here. Very neat and sharp image with natural colours and I like your low POV to portray it. Fine capture of a half-awake Mule Deer doe. Nice low POV and fine composition with good sharpness and superb lighting.
Maybe deers dream, experiencing images of various kinds, but I know that dogs dream. Our little terrier barks in his dreams and one can speculate about what.

Rick, this is a lovely capture of the Mule Deer.
The ambient light plays a great role in giving character to the subject.
I also like background of barren trees. Makes the setting look very natural.
