[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
So Saturday I saw the forecast for Lake Erie, where I live this is what it said:
STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EST MONDAY...
.OVERNIGHT...SOUTHWEST STORM FORCE WINDS TO 50 KNOTS. SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS AND SQUALLS. WAVES 17 TO 22 FEET. Thats about 60MPH or 100K an hour.
For those of you who can't imagine waht a 20 foot wave would look like, go outside, look up at the roof of your 2 story house, and image a wave that size and then imagine a whole lake full of them. Ships were going to anchor in safe harbors everywhere. Here at the house I woke up to 48mph wind blowing straight at the house on Sunday morning, I was amazed that the swans were still out there , course the lake is shallow in front of the house so the waves don't get that big and the swans were pretty protected by a reef there. But later on that day the wind slowly starting switching over to the south west and when that happened thats when the big winds started blowing, the swans picked up camp and started heading to a safer , quieter spot. I took this photo from our bedroom window as it was really windy out front

A good capture of the flyng birds and of the rolling waves, I like the threes different tone of colors of the sky and of the lake. It is giving a charm to the photo. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful shot portraying the hard things to come. The brownish water illustrates the disturbed water nicely and the swans are desperately flying to safer places. Fabulous documentary shot. Your bedroom window provides a spectacular view most times than not. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Donna. I have read your interesting notes and as you say what are the swans doing flying in that wind. You did well to captured the as you did. you picture shows the force of the wind. with good detail and colours. well done TDS.

I think you did a wonderful job with this shot.
I really like the placement of the swans on the horizon,and the way they have their wings made for a nice composition.
The colours are very natural and beautiful.
