hello, this is my second photo of a serie
of 5 wood duck photos taken last spring
that i will post in next days or couple of weeks

last spring almost every morning i was
at a pond (1 km from my house) where
the city of Laval did several nesting boxs
for the wood ducks to come and nest there

that pond for me was a theatre where
the actors was the mallards, the wood ducks
and one hybrid mallard/american black duck
(i have a photo that i will post of this hybrid)

observating the ducks i learned that
they open and close their wings
when the wings are wet, from a duck fight
or from going underwater to find food

each time they where a fight or each time
a duck was going underwater i newed that
he will open and close his wings, so each time
i was ready to shoot with the camera

i remember very well that this male wood duck
had i fight with another male and then he
came and opened closed his wings in front of me

here is a link on the wood duck

I am now discovering the wood duck thank you and it is a fascinating duck. Your series was thought out well and you knew jut what to post and in what order...I really think it is important how much time and thinking you put into your images and posts. You tend to go as Suman and Pankaj, others from India and then Fartash who knows his bugs but thinks out his shot....you do so well in this area...and nobody would ever fault you for your areas of concern! This makes you a very special person in my book Asbed...but I think I already knew that somehow...

Hello Asbed,
What a great title Asbed, it goes well with this sharp colorful composition. Thanks for sharing Asbed.
Rick

Wow....Asbed, this is quite an unusual shot you captured. I rarely see the wood duck in this position.A very fortunate capture indeed. I also notice that ducks do this wing flapping to clean themselves of things they pick up while underwater if it is shallow and muddy. TFS!

Joli petit jeu de mot mon ami,
j'aime bien la pose de ce magnifique canard, il a l'air concentré et on imagine très bien l'orchestre en regardant la photo,
bravo, belle prise au bon moment,
amitiés,
Pat

Hi Asbed,
pushed the button at the right moment! Good composition, good and with the title funny pose. Not very sharp. Good observations.
