Beautiful Bohemian is what I call today's upload and I see these birds often here in High River but until today I had not got a detailed shot of any. From a distance they look to be pastel coloured and lacking in detail especially their feathers but I knew that this was not the case. The feathers are the finest of any I have ever seen and so it goes unless you are very close to one of these birds the details will not be evident but today I got lucky and was within a meter and a half of several of these lovely birds. The waxwings were helping themselves to dehydrated crabapples and did not to seem to mind my being near while they ate.I have included in the workshop two more photos.I hope that you like these birds as much as I.All images have been cropped, resized and slightly sharpened using Paint.Net.

Hallo Bob
If Freddy Mercury was still alive I am sure he would have singed his song Bohemian Rhapsody for this "Beautiful Bohemian" of yours. This is a splendid macro with excellent focus and clear details. It looks as if his "hair” was combed for the occasion. The sparkle in the brown-black eye catches ones attention immediately. I can find no mistake and appreciate this posting. Composition is good. A delightful and special photo. Congratulations! A well deserved smiley for this one. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hello Bob,
Beautiful capture of the waxwings my friend. Excellent details and colors in all three images. Great job, do you think they were a little drunk from fermented crab apples that they let you that close. Thanks for the great work Bob.
Rick

Hi Bob - this is a fantastic headshot. The details are exquisite (i rather think his beak looks like it's made of metal) the colors superb! Very well done, and I like the other photos in your workshop which give us the full view of the bird.

Regards, Penny

Hi Bob.-
Excellent and fine Maco of this Waxwing bird. Nice colors and very good sharpness to. your note is very good too.

Hi Bob,
So you've got and very tight close up here!
I like the way we can see every single feather on the bird, and its wonderful colours.
The intense blue of the sky as background works great for the picture.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Amazing close-up shot! The detail n the feathers is great.

I always think the waxwings are so sleek and beautiful. I've not seen such a close portrait before. The markings and colors are wonderful. It looks like you have blue sky there!! No fair! We've had nothing but a couple of short sunbreaks so far this new year!! It has been an incredibly wet winter so far.

Hello Bob,
A superb close-up of the Bohemian Waxwing, the same species that we have in N. Europe, but I have never been ables to get as close as this, even though they get a bit tipsy at times after eating fermenting berries.
Great lighting, details and composition.
Well done and thanks,
Ivan

I read your introductory page and I agree with you about only posting shots of free-living creatures.

hi Bob, that's what I call a close-up and a beautiful one! Thanks to let us see those wonderful birds so well and with so much details. The feathers look like silk hair, it's so beautiful. They are gorgeous birds and they live down the mountains, here, in the area. I have seen them once in here and I sat close by, watching them eat all the small fruits. I think they are called, in our area, cedar waxwing, they have slight differences that I could not enumerate by heart. This picture is wonderful, with the blue in the background. We see plenty details of the bill, the feathers and the great colours. Thanks once again!

Francine

Hi Bob,

Marie

Hello Bob,
This is what I called super macro in such closeness with a brilliant size posting to enjoy the sharpness, vivid colour and details of the Bohemian!
a well composed and pleasant presentation indeed
well done
best regards
Tony

What a close-up!!!!!!!
Gorgeous details....perfect focus/sharpness...there's nothing wrong with this photo...bravo!

Hi Bob,
Do you know how lucky you are to have this so close portrait of this bird? I have seen them only once here. They were many of them coming in flock to eat in a fruit’s tree this winter. I had my camera and took many pictures but I unfortunately didn't have enough lightning and no flash at this moment :) They are beautiful and elegant birds. I especially like this little sound they make. This is a superb close-up with great details, composition and colors. The deep blue sky makes a perfect background. Congratulations!
