[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I have a photo of Bohemian Waxwings stopped into a tree near where I live. This past Saturday it was snowing and a rather dully lit day.I always try to get photos no matter what the weather is doing as I'm up for the challenge so as to be an all round photographer one must endure the good with the bad.My main difficulty in getting my photos on this day were, the snow kept getting into my eyes and camera's eye viewer and I couldn't see well what I was shooting.I have waited for over a month for the second snowfall of the season as I wanted to try photoing it and the wildlife I saw. These birds are very easy to spot as they tend to travel in groups of 50 or more individuals and this flock had at least 150 members in it.Before I saw them, I heard them and the sound they made was much like squeaky wheels in need of oil,but not unpleasant to listen too.On a dull day these birds are a welcome splash of colour and now that I have some snowy shots of them,I hope to get even more photos as I would like to get taking photos like this with even better results. Those of you who have taken photos with falling snow,if you have any tips how to go about doing so,It would surely be appreciated by me as winter should be included in one's collection of shots, because not everyday has blue skies and clear air.In the workshop I have another shot of these birds higher up in the tree to show you an idea of the flock size. Both photos have been cropped and resized using paint.Net.

Hi Bob,
Nice image with all these beautiful waxwings in assorted poses. They diffinately like to travel with compoany and this pleasant image displays that well. Thanks Bob.
Rick

hello Bob

nice shot with a excellent focus, the foreground branchs
and the birds being in the same tones of the background,
having all the birds (and not only one zoomed) on the image
it is giving another interesting view of the image, TFS

Hey Bob,
Real nice image, never seen these growing on a tree before :) excellent detail, I'm sure there would have be quite a noise judging from the amount of birds in the tree, worth the snow in the eyes mate, great shot :) Cheers Rick ...

Hi Bob

Lovely view of these waxwings - we get waxwings only when it is exceptionally cold in Scandinavia. I like the diagonal line created by the group of birds.

Hi Bob, this is a fantastic shot of those superb birds. I have had the chance to see them once in here, in the sorbus in front of the house. I like the way you captured the scene, with the birds' colours melting into the surrounding yet seeing the bright whites and yellows of their plumage. With the tree as a background, they melt into the scenery and that is quite nice as it is the way they do things. Thank you, great winter shot, on a grey day and you are so right, this is the weather you experiment and there sure is beauty in it, you just proved it.

Hi Bob,

Very well camouflaged, you had a good eye to see them, we can mostly see them because of their yelow stripes. Well done!

Hello Bob

A very good capture of this flock of waxwings.
They look like foliage on the bare branches.
Well focused with sharp details.I like the workshop Bob,it really shows how large these flocks can get.
Very informative posting.

What a beautiful collection of birds...great composition and with so much going on in the photo, the birds are still quite evident. Wonderful view of the natural habitat.
