There was no doubt about it. This mallard lady had spotted me and tagged me for a soft touch for dinner. Little did she know that I do read the signs that say "Please do not feed the waterfowl"

But at least I got my shot before she slowly headed off further up the pond.

Shot in RAW, adjusted contrast and levels in RAW, converted to jpg, cropped slightly, blurred noise on water surface, resized and sharpened for TN

Thanks for looking and for any suggestions you have to offer

Hello Silke,
Superb composition of dividing line between the wake and calm water with the movement of this Mallard duck. Though we see her reflection in the calm part of the water, the speed of her eagerness to be fed is very obvious in this shot and that is what makes this image interesting.
Thanks for sharing it,
Ivan

Hi Silke
This is very nice picture.
very good sharp and reflection
well done

Hello Silke,
Wow! She's in a hurry!
And with an effort like that she really deserves a little bite, sign or no sign!
On the other hand, she floats high on the water and that may indicate f-a-t...
And I have noticed the Canadian squirrels, they look like footballs with ears so I guess the sign is justified!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Silke ,great capture and lovely water effect, thanks for share and welcome back,Luciano

I have been deluged by a once in a lifetime snow and ice and whatever storm. My power has been out and on all day..We have a foot and a half of snow in 15 hours. It is a mess...so this is a cc'ed message to folks whose pics I normally critique. I will try to return tomorrow for proper...if not then this will be a unique critique..like a wind signature eh?
Bob

Hi Silke

In contrast to the Titanic it seems like this "steamer" knows exactly where she's going to. No icebergs here to hinder the progress and she is coming in with speed.

I like the diagonal line and the wake patterns caused by the V-shaped wave behind the mallard and from the bulging wake in front of her it is quite clear that she is on a mission. She must have been disgusted with you once she realised there was no French loaves on the menu. From the reflection in the water surface it looks like it was a rather gloomy overcast day and that probably explain the slight dullness in the colours. I hope you don't mind, but I have prepared a quick workshop to show you what I mean. Anyway, it is a great shot with a lovely composition.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Silke,
Amazing, quelle belle composition, et comme les couleurs sont magnifiques, et la vague de l'eau est superbe et se marie très avec le canard.
Bravo

Rob

Wow, Silke, your composition of this shot is excellent! The wake of the duck makes a superb diagonal!
Great pov which enabled you to capture the reflection of the head too!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

I liked to see reacher colors and more contrast.

Hi Silke,
Glad to see you're active again.
I like the comp and distinct wake, with the smooth water affording a very clear mirrored reflection of the birds head..
Great detail & natural color too :)
Well done!
Howard

Very impressive capture of the bird's fast movement towards you, Silke.
The two segments of water -- one still and the other disturbed -- create a lovely effect in this sharp and crisp image.
Thanks and regards.
