Hi Claudine,
That sparrow seems to be really cold!
It's very good the result of the fill flash used here, it's like a kind of extra sharpness on the subject's details.
I like the vertical composition made, that goes well with all same oriented and vanishing branches at the back.

This is gorgeous Claudine,
The light is well shone on this bird capturing the brilliant details and excellent plumage. Well perched in this shot and you have managed the depth well exposing to the contrasting blue sky. I like it and hope you don't me adding to my personal theme.

Bonjour Claudine, ce bruant hudsonien est plein de lumière et le ciel bleu derrière lui me fait plaisir à l'oeil. J'aime beaucoup la composition de cette photo, la petite branche sur laquelle il est posé. Chez moi ces oiseaux passent au printemps et à l'automne, tous les bruants sont descendus par chez vous! A nice capture of this sparrow,I must say that as from your note,that it is probably one of the first times I see that a flash extender is been used,I never thought about the use of one,but I suppose that the range and intensity (on) of your flash range are lenghtened,thanks

I am so impressed with the photos you take Claudine. The colours are always so rich, and you take such care in focus, and POV.
The catchlight here is excellent. Sky is so nicely seen with the deep blue.
I wish I had some days to get out now. Snow...rain...and when it is sun I am working.

je profite de cette superbe photo pour te demander ton avis sur le 40D,moi je changerais bien de boitier mais j'ai aussi vu que canon allait sortir le 450D avec 12MP,alors mon coeur balance entre la rapidité et sensibilité accru du 40D et la course aux pixels du 450D qui sortira courant mars!

This looks great Claudine, love the blue of the OOF BG here..
Very good detail, DOF, POV, and use of flash. The vertical composition is perfect for this one.
I've been shooting without flash lately..Several reasons. No matter how quiet I try to be, the birds are startled easily because I'm so close. And it's cold out there..Then if it's windy, it has no effect on my camera. And last of all, it has forced me to use the natural light, which can be a good thing :)
