After the scratching of the ground of the little red fox in my yesterday's post, here is Gugusse whom I caught scratching himself. He was standing on that apple tree branch when suddenly he laid on his side and started scratching himself furiously. I am surprised I could even get a clear shot like this one even though you see some movement.

I had posted this picture previously on TN and I hope you like it as I think it is quite a funny and unusual picture of squirrel.

I searched on Internet for squirrel fleas and there is one species called Ceratophyllus (Monopsyllus) sciurorum sciurorum but not much was written on the subject.

Little Gugusse is better scratch himself as we still do not clean squirrels out of their fleas.

Hope you enjoy this picture!

Francine

Hi Francine,
another one with huge amounts of character again. You seem to be able to give all your animals photo's some sort of personality, an invaluable part of any wildlife shot that is often missing from alot of the shots i see here...but then i'm no expert :o)
Really like your pose here, the lighting is great and the setting in the tree (where else??) perfect.
A lovely posting, thanks for sharing...oh, good notes too!
Paul

Hi Francine.
Funny scene you have pictured. I also like excellent composition of the picture, very good details and colours. BG is wonderful too. My compliments.
Alexei.

Hello Francine
I cant make my mind up if he is scratching or about to roll off the branch backwards!!..or if indeed a combination of the both!!
Either way it is a stunning picture with superb focus and light..And dare it be said..I think he is shaking the dust off of treknature and having a laugh at us all!!
Superb Post Francine and a superb Note
All the Best
Paul

Hallo Francine
Looking at the thumbnail I could not make out what on earth is the photo all about. Only opening it to a bigger size, I saw this hilarious scene with this cute squirrel. This is indeed a very funny shot with lots of clear details to it. This guy is really enjoying himself. Just look at the open mouth, with the teeth showing. I like the position you have managed to photograph this squirrel in. The big eyes, the long whiskers, and that long, thick tail are all details one can see very clearly. Good focus, lovely close-up. Very appealing presentation.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Nina, Fun shot of this itchy squirrel. Looks like he's really working hard to get at it. :-) Good detail and exposure in what looks like difficult light. Super pose.

Hello Francine,
What a catch of this trusting Gugusse laying on its back in front of you. Normally a trusting squirrel will turn its back on you, but this, unbelievable. It has to be a stitch from another image, not really, just snickering at the little fellow, really enjoying the scratch...
Great shot...
Steve

Very cute capture Francine, it seems everybody is "itching" for Spring ;}
Excellent POV of the action with great detail and well composed.
Great shot!

Hi Francine

Hahaha...what a funny pose! The look on its face is worth millions :))
Very good shot and impeccable timing from you here!
I also like the way you handled the not easy at all exposure as well as the sharpness you managed to get in these light conditions.
Very nice presentation, too.

Bravo and TFS

Bonjour Francine,

Mariki

Hi Francine,

Another great posting, I haven't heard of a Gugusse, but it looks like a cross between a squirrel and a chipmonk! Great capture, with a good pose and nice broken light giving the shot additional interest. Keep up the great work.

Mike

Salut Francine

Hola Francine, primero quiero agradecete tus amables comentarios.

When it comes to itches you gotta do what you gotta do. This is very funny. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. Great light, composition and most importantly, timing.

Bonsoir Francine,
