Earth, Wind & Cloud

This image was taken last fall on our last canoe trip for the year. The weather was absolutely beautiful. This was the latest in the year we have canoed.

I just love these old dead trees along the shore of the Bow River. Many of these old trees grow right into rocky outcrops. I'm sure this old guy grew to a ripe old age. Now he's interesting to look at and a nice vantage point for the local Eagles and Osprey.

Wonderful Janice...I am so glad you came to post today...Your images are unique and in some ways I see similarities in the way we think. There is much to be said about something dead and leaving it's natural image for a bit...perhaps it speaks volumes but we do not understand. I'm sure you have a gift..and pretty soon this winter will be gone so no more hockey and snow:-)

Hi Janice,
Composed well and I like the clear deep blue sky with just the wisp of cloud there..Nice detail, color, DOF, and exposure..
Well done!
Howard

Hi Janice,
I like the way you caught the essence of this old tree.
Its really a beautiful bi-trunk, and your POV makes it looks quite imposing.
It's very good the way you cropped and the resulting proportions used.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hello Janice,
So glad to see you back, how has the weather been to you. This is a beautiful image with the great blue sky with a wisp of cloud. That weathered snag with its' bare arms reaching into that blue sky is so interesting, I can see this being a popular roosting spot. Thanks for sharing this fine image my friend.
Rick
PS I like your canoeing video lots, was it hard to edit.

Hi Janice

A simple yet very beautiful composition - stunning colour. The inclusion of the stray cirrus cloud adds an unearthly element.

James

Hello Janice,

Reading the title, my mind just replaced cloud by fire. Elements well captured in this brilliant composition. The dead tree is just stunning against the blue sky with that handsome trace of cloud.

Regards,
Jusni

Hi Janice,
That one little cloud does add a lot to the photo. A clear blue sky would probably made this photo less interesting. The position of the dead tree is wonderful and makes the composition very powerful.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Janice. This is good to see, the blue skies make a fine backdrop. The tree has lived and now rots away, providing nutient for more plants not yet on this hill. Cycle of nature. TFS. Murray.

Hi Janice,
I like simplicity of this scenery and beautiful composition. This sky is amazing and this must have been a beautiful day! This lonely cloud adds a nice element to the picture. Well seen!

Hello Janice,
I like this very beautiful and artistic composition! The old tree at the edge of the rocks and the little arrow-like cloud all go so well together. Lovely light, colours and details too.
Many thanks, Ulla

Beautiful blue sky. Good composition. Good Clarity.
the little bit of cloud almost look like some sort of spirit floating away. Good shot.

Hello Janice,
This is an attractive contrasty composition!
The wonderful blue sky makes a fine background for the dead old tree, which is captured with sharp fine details...
