[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Looking through pictures in the archives is a fun task to do. Memories come back, moments that were filled with grace and elation are brought to mind. When I photograph nature, I loose all sense of time, place and even of who I am! One gets immersed in what the eyes see as if it is being printed in the brain with all the sensations accompanying it: perfumes, textures, sound of wings, colours and even taste.

When I started using the tripod to make pictures in the garden, a whole new world opened up. This is not a world of speed but quite the contrary. It's a world where patience and alpha waves are required. This change of scales requires also that one forgets about himself. I am sure a lot of people on TN know exactly what I mean by that. This is why we are going nuts over photography, it's probably the alpha waves combined with the stimulation of endorphines and serotonine in our brain. Plus conscience being heightened.

I photographed this tiny coreopsis flower with a bug last June. The weather was greyish, no sunshine which is a good time to photograph in order to get all the details. But there is not much light in this picture and I wish I knew how to use the flash or a macro ring flash. It will come in its own time but for now, I am proposing you with this picture of a tiny blue bug, it's almost hairy and I am intrigued by it.

I looked in my insect identification book for Quebec and found nothing. I would really appreciate it if someone on TN could give me the identification of this tiny bug.

I don't photograph much the insects because they are small and go real fast. They hide. It's a different scale but what I enjoy most doing it is the change of scale: one needs no drugs to do such things ;-)

I always feel I am a big giant bug landing in a strange world. There are bugs everywhere in a garden as the insects use the plants and ground to eat, to sleep, to reproduce, to hide... bumblebees spend the night on the petals of flowers and there's nothing more romantic, I think, than waking up early, go in the garden and find these creatures asleep on petals.

Hope you enjoy,

Francine

Hi Francine,
now this I like!!!
I love the simplicity of it.
A very good composition placing the purple bug along the line of the Rule of Thirds.
Great DOF and a nicely blurred BG.
Good sharpness and clarity.
I'm going to have to add this as a favourite :-)
Thanks Francine.

bonjour Francine

"stimulation of endorphines and serotonine "...cool...what a way to think...I have "studied" the connections of waves and humans for 20 years or more now...the interactions between things, but if there is no between then the pulsing back and forth...Fantastic way to introduce a mod into the picture which you have documented as well as photographed...Super Francine..I shall return to learning French soon!:-)

Hello Francine!

Markus

Hello Francine,
This is an excellent macro image of the Blue Bug and flower. Even the background color makes the yellows of this flower pop out,
Well captured...

Hi Francine

This is a very beautiful and arthistic macro shot!
I have no idea whay you don't shoot macros so often...you seem to have a very good eye for them plus you do have one of the best lenses in the business :)
I really like the sharpness on the little bug here as well as the wonderful colors that lookg terrific one next to another.
I also like your POV which allowed the usage of this shallow DOF and created the great bokeh in the BG.
All-in-all: a superb job!

Bravo and TFS

Precioso y original trabajo lleno de sensibilidad y buen gusto.

Hello Francine,

This is one stunning shot of this small blue bug.

The sharpness is very well observed with the bug and the brilliant yellow flower. You have managed the depth very well against the pleasing blurry blue background.

Best regards and have a wonderful weekend.

Jusni

The blues & greens of the BG make it pleasing to my eye :)

Hello Franchine,
Your image is beautiful I am sorry it has taken so long to get back to it. I have come to the conclusion from your notes and images that you have a heart the size of Quebec and it is inside this very young person who is beaming at every new discovery. You are truly talented Francine.
