I'm back and will have some time for you good people for the next several days as I'm able to spare time for TN.This past Saturday was one of the most lovely days I have ever seen in my life as the air was so very clear and the light strong with little wind and a warmish -8c at the time of my photo shoot. The week before this and the workshop photos were taken was a very hard one to get through as at times the wind chill was at or near -50c and the still air temperature was as low as -36c here where I live.During that cold time I saw on a number of occasions a pair of bald eagles and now know more or less where they live and hope to get some photos of them as well. The bohemian waxwings were together eating mountain ash berries and sure ate a lot of them and didn't seem to concerned by my being near to them.In all I would say that the flock may of consisted of 400 to 500 individuals all of them eating berries or snow, truly a most welcome sight for winter weary eyes and wonderful to hear them sing!I like these birds and who can blame a fellow for that and I hope you like them too. Bob

Hi Bob,
What a great shot the colours are amazing, excellent detail, POV and framing just perfect, and a stunning blue sky as a backdrop, great work all the best Cheers Rick :)

Hi Bob - this shot is wonderful. The colors are great - berries a perfect complement to the birds plumage. Great detail - awesome catch! Penny

Hi Bob,

Great colours and composition that you froze (you said it was -8c) in this photo. Those red icy fruits (they look like some Sorbus sp. fruits) seem to be a good meal for the little birds trying to pass thru the winter.

Cheers, Petru

Very nice composition and good shot, but the crop i prefer to be not so tight.

Greetings,
Luca

Hello Bob,

What a great shot of this bohemian waxwings in perfect natural lighting.
Perfect posture and vivid color. Very nice blue bg.
TFS,
/Tabib/.

This is a very colourful and good capture of the bohemian. Having the berry in the mouth is a bonus. I have one like that in my gallery.Your whole workshop of this bird is equally as good.
This is one of my favourite birds to see I think.

Hello Bob,
We normally see this lovely Waxwing here in the winter but this year it's been so mild so there've been less of them and we've only heard their sound like pretty bells as they've been flying over. Excellent capture, sharp details and beautiful colours. Great pose too on the Rowan tree!! Wel done!
Many thanks, Ulla

I am soooo jealous Bob!!! What an amazing capture of this beauty! You caught it at perfect timing with great proximity, excellent colors and superb details. How can you get so close? I have seen those superb birds only once and the sky was so covered that all my pictures came out bad. Congratulations for this perfect picture!
Claudine
PS And, as it wasn't enough, you have other wonderful shots in WS. Why can't I have only one, lol?!

Hi Bob,
Is easy to understand why you were so happy these past days.
With that blue sky and beautiful light is enough inspiration to go out and take pictures as good as this one.
Love the close approach and magnificent details got on the bird's plumage.
Both poses, this one and the other at the workshop are just great.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM
