[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This pair of bull elk grazing on the wind blown slopes of the Cypress Hills appear to be wintering quite well. Soon thier antlers will drop and the process of growing new ones begins. These Elk are very wary of humans as there is an open season in the fall to keep thier numbers in check within the Park. As a result they are seldom seen by park visitors unless they are aware of the places they frequent. Thanks to those who Emailed me to see where I had gone, I had a very bad shift at work and was under the weather also so, I would work and sleep as much as I could.

Rick,
What a beautiful shot of these magnificient Elk. The scenery is breath taking. I can almost imagine one elk saying to the other ( Well Charlie, I see you made it through another hunting season, what do you say we go get a bite to eat...)
Thanks for posting for all to enjoy.

Great composition - I like the positioning of the Elk in the frame - it works very well.

Hello Rick, glad to see you're back with your great pictures! A wonderful view once more, with two elks looking at each other. It is beautiful, Rick, so natural and a superb composition. I love the hills alternating with the spruces (??) also alternating in the image. I am surprised there is not much snow! Thank you and welcome back!

Francine

Hi Rick,
Impressionnant paysage avec ces orignaux qui donne la perspective à cette photo, belle coposition et beau jeu de couleurs.
Bravo
Marie

I love this type of image Rick... animals as part of the landscape. Your elk make a great focal point. If the landscape was right this might also have made a great shot in a horizontal rather than vertical presentation... including more landscape to the right side of the image. That probably would have entailed having a different lens which of course gets complicated and takes some of the fun out of shooting. If I'm not hiking, I mount lens on separate cameras.

Sorry you have been under such a workload and under the weather. I haven't been as active on TN lately for some of the same reasons... I know I have missed some of your posts. I have really enjoyed the shots you've taken this winter. They've been great

Hello Rick,
This is a pleasant composition, with the majestic animals in their habitat!
Seems like the snow doesn't cause them too much problems this year as this is next to nothing...
Good details and a fine presentation!
Greetings,
Pablo -
