Hello, after one month with out doing photos
i finally had back my SLR-Like camera from
the reperation and yesterday i went to the forest
Boisé Papineau and did this shot, image shoot in
JPEG format to double my 300mm zoom, ISO 400,

i just want to mention that my camera not having
image stabilizer i am happy of my shot
(the 300mm zoom was even doubled)
the subject is sharp and with Photoshop
habitally i give sharpness to my images
i did'nt give it to this image

but because i doubled the zoom
i lost some quality on the details
and this is normal i think

from this webpage here is a excellent text :
http://bna.birds.cornell.edu/bna/species/054/articles/introduction

« The White-breasted Nuthatch is a small,
common resident of deciduous forests in
North America. Like other nuthatches, this species
characteristically walks head down- ward
on large branches and trunks, probing crevices
in bark for its seed and insect prey. It also uses such
crevices to hold fast large seeds and nuts, which this
bird then hacks open with its bill. The name “nuthatch”
is presumably derived from this behavior.

About 20 g in mass, this nuthatch generally
lives in pairs in permanent territories throughout
the year and regularly visits feeders during
fall and winter, a time of year when pairs hoard
food in large amounts, dispersing it throughout
their territory and using each site to cache
only one item. In some years, portions of western
and northern populations do show
migratory/irruptive movements, although it is not
clear who are these wandering individuals or if
they survive to breed near their natal areas or elsewhere

Despite this species’ wide distribution
and year-round presence in North America,
its biology is not well known. Why this lack
of information for such a common species?
In part, because these nuthatches prefer
to breed in natural holes in large, old trees,
so their nests are often difficult to examine.
Nevertheless, enough is known about
the White-breasted Nuthatch to reveal
its close resemblance to the Eurasian Nuthatch
(Sitta europaea) in life history and ecology,
more so than to any other North American nuthatch. »

thanks for viewing and critiques

Hi Asbed,

I'm so glad you have your camera again and what a fantastic shot for your first post with it. This Nuthatch in a nice perky pose is wonderful. Beautiful colors and sharp details. I like the composition too.

Jane

Some of these birds have an almost classic pose in which they push out their chest with head held out and back slightly. Must be a method of balancing or gaining frame of reference. Very nicely done in Colours true and natural!

Hello Asbed,
I could see that you got your camera back before I read your note. This a fine sharp capture of the White-breasted Nuthatch in a typical pose on the treetrunk against a fine OOF natural BG.
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan

Hi Asbed,
Wonderfully capture nuthatch in a classic head down pose. The details and colors captured by your camera work are superb, thank you my friend.
Rick

Hi Asbed,

Nice posting of this Nuthatch, and I'm pleased that you weren't tempted to crop too closely. The composition is great, with the interesting treetrunk taking a third of the frame on the vertical, the bird taking centre stage and a nice pattern of branches taking up the final third. This is matched perfectly by the bird taking the centre of the horizontal thirds, which balances the picture nicely. The detail and the pose of the bird are also great.

Hi Asbed.
What a nice picture with wonderful clean colours, huge transparency of the image, full of lights and attractive details. I like fantastic reproduction of the trunk and bird, cute pose of the last one and very impressive blurred blue BG. Bravo.
