Hello, this Barred Owl photo too was shot
in the same hour as my previous postings
the Great Horned Owl and the Eastern Screech-Owl

i have to be honest, to find this Barred Owl
i was helped by a Lady that i see here
almost everytime at the forest Boisé Papineau

i was searching the Barred Owl on the trees
when i saw that Lady and asked here if she saw
the Barred Owl, she told me to follow here

i was under the tree when i shoot the photo,
you can see by viewing the branches,
photo shot in RAW format at ISO400

here is some texts on the Barred Owl
from « All About Birds » website

« A large owl of extensive woodlands, the Barred Owl
is familiar for its distinctive "who-cooks-for-you,
who-cooks-for-you-all" hooting.

Sound

Resonant series of eight or nine hoots,
"hoo-hoo-to-hoo, hoo-hoo-to-hoo-aw."
Also raucous jumble of cackles,
hoots, caws, and gurgles.

Cool Facts

The belly feathers of some Barred Owls are pink.
This coloring may be the result of eating a lot of crayfish.

Barred Owl populations have expanded westward
in the last century. The more aggressive Barred Owl
may displace the endangered Spotted Owl.
Hybrids of the two species are also known.

Great Horned Owl is the most serious predatory
threat to the Barred Owl. Although they often live
in the same areas, the Barred Owl will avoid parts
of its territory occupied by a Great Horned Owl. »

Hello Asbed
You have achieved tremendous detail and focus through the tangle of twigs that were shrouding your view of this lovely barred owl...The framing is spot on with the nice blur of green leaves the the left showing how dense and deep the owl was away from you.
Best Regards
paul

Hi Asbed,

This owl shows up so well thru the branches. He looks wonderful in this setting. It's strange for most of us to see leaves on a tree this time of year. You captured good details of his face and plummage. I would love to see one during daytime - I can hear them on the chimney late at night.

Jane

You go to the forest and meet a lady who tells you where an owl is...now that is the kind of thing books are written about:-) I say that with a smile of course...Very nice image. good chance on meeting her...

Bonjour Asbed
aurais tu changé de caméra ? Les couleurs ne sont pas équilibrées de la même manière sur tes autres photos.
En tout cas, c'est très réussi, j'aime beaucoup voir ces rapaces dans leur milieu naturel,
bravo
amitiés,
Pat

Asbed,

Three owls in one day! That's great, good for you.
You've captured this one in its natural habitat. Don't worry about the branches. It is not usually the case that these birds come out and pose for us. The way you have it in your picture presents the owl how one might see it in the wild. Good job.

Regards,

Martin

Hello Asbed,

Nice shot at this lady in natural environment. A bit busy in front but still well seen in its perch. Good light and I like the sleepy eyes.

Jusni

Bonjour Asbed,

Hi Asbed

Well seen! The owl seems very content. I like the natural feel of this shot - it is what wildlife photography is about.

Francine

Hi Asbed,

You did so well not only to see him, but to get a shot away through all those branches. You have most most of his but, but got the fave, which is the main thing. The branches are actually important to your shot as it gives a feel for the bird's environment. Well done.
