"WOODPECKER"

Luis Leal of Mexicio has posted this species on TN. His notes are EXTENSIVE. So, there is no need to duplicate them here. His image too, is OUTSTANDINGLY great.

My TN friend is from Mexico. What intrigues me is the "how" & "why" this particular mayan species is living in COLD COLD Alberta, Canada and, in the city of Calgary of all places. Of course I am quite happy it dewells here.

We have noticed that a lot of birds have come to reside in our beautiful province of Alberta e.g. wild turkey, the purple finch, this un-named woodpecker, water ouzel = American Dipper etc: etc: IS OUR WORLD "WARMING" UP????

Because this bird is originally from Mexico I'm going to let you enjoy this lovely Mayan music in this slidecast.

Aires,
You managed very well in such difficult light. The bright background and dark object is very hard to photograph well. Good enough details on the bird against the very bright sky and dark tree trunk. Big smile for that.

Hi, dear Mario.
Unfortunately I have only few not very good shots of woodpeckers. Our trees are so high and shooting distance even for my 100-400 mm lens is too long. Nice scene, taken from low POV. I like excellent DOF and details of the main subject. A bit underexposed image of the bird and stump but subject are too contrast. Well done and kind wishes.
Yours Alexei.

Hello Mario,
Congrats on your upload #200!
That is a lot of work, I know since I uploaded my #200 the other day...
A fine composition with the woodpecker, effective point of view and gooddetails in the plumage!
Greetings,

Hello Mario. This is so well framed. The perch on the dead wood is stunning. I like the sharpness and clarity of the image and just stunning against the clear background. Beautiful work and thanks for sharing. Warmest regards from very hot Malaysia :-) Jusni
