| Preserve your Memories is what I call today's upload. It is so easy to lose or damage film negatives and only have a photo left to scan into your computer and the photo can also be of less than ideal condition. This is the case with my photo of the mountains at the end of Johnston Canyon trail where it opens up into the valley you see in this shot.I used an old Canon TX manual SLR camera for this photo and likely Asa 200 film and a standard 50mm f/1.8 lens. This area is located in Banff National Park here in Alberta. The photo was as I said not all that wonderful to look at but I was able to help it along somewhat with Paint.Net.First I sharpened it up some and next I use the the colour filter to help in warmness of the colours, then I tweaked the saturation and finally adjusted the white balance and resized for upload to TN-whew!In the workshop I show this image unmodified except for resizing for upload. My effort is not what could be considered the best as I'm not adept at post production work but that today is not really the point, the point is just this, don't throw away your old photos for much can be done to make them look good again and an electronic record sure is convenient to view and share.I hope to be more active here on TN and view your wonderful works as well as share some more of my own.I hope that you enjoy this oldie but goody. Hi Bob , that is just to true , and great that there is the chance to salvage the picture , even repair and enlarge it .
we don't only need to take care with our negatives and prints , but also with digital photos , though they do not decay with time , the can vanish in the crash of a computer or the scratch of a disk , very good to keep back ups.
Thanks for sharing.

Great picture Bob, I too have many negatives that I have stored both in boxes and now PC...Once gone never recovered...This is a pretty decent picture in it's own right, but now you have the ability to both save and improve/alter...,those memories should remain..good work and TFS

Hello bob,
what you said is absolutely true.Unless you take good care of the negativesand you may end up losing all those precious memories. I like both the versions of your lanscape shot. Seeing the excellent manner in which you have brought out the warm tones in the picture shos you indeed are an expert in PP.;)
Thanks for the share,
Smitha.
Bro,
Excellent landscape.I've posted a workshop. Please tell me if you like it!
Excellent note.
Thanks!

Hello Bob,
There will often be a problem with colours in images of some age, depending on what kind of film and how the image has been stored!
I have also seen many examples of good restoration work and I feel you too did well here...
I notice the trail into this magnificient landscape, and the varied light adds life, well done!
Greetings,
Pablo -
:-) OK-
Hi Bob. I like a challenge so I too attempted a workshop. I used mostly the Hue and Saturation adjustment to remove the red cast and enhance the yellow a bit. See what you think. I too have been trying to salvage some old film and slide photos. This looks like a nice canyon. I'll have to look for it on a map.
