A Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus 12-14 cm) taken in a park of Quebec city.

From: www.birds.cornell.edu
One of the most familiar and beloved birds in northern North America, the Black-capped Chickadee is a frequent visitor to bird feeders. Its apparently cheerful activity throughout the harshest winters has won it the admiration of many people.
Description,
Small, short-billed bird.
Black cap.
Black bib.
White cheeks.
Size: 12-15 cm (5-6 in)
Wingspan: 16-21 cm (6-8 in)
Weight: 9-14 g (0.32-0.49 ounces)
Sex Differences
Sexes look alike.
Sound
Song: two or three notes whistled, with first higher in pitch, "fee-bee-ee." Call: suggests name "chick-a-dee-dee."
Conservation Status
Black-capped Chickadees have benefited from human-provided food and nest boxes, as well as increased forest edges caused by deforestation. However, overzealous forest management can reduce or eliminate natural nest sites.
Other Names
Mésange à tête noire (French)
Cool Facts
The Black-Capped Chickadee hides seeds and other food items for later recovery. Each item is placed in a different spot and a bird can remember thousands of hiding places.
The chickadee's simple-sounding calls have been found to be extremely complex and language-like. They code information on identity and recognition of other flocks as well as predator alarms and contact calls.
Breeding pairs and nonbreeders join up into flocks outside of the breeding season. Nonbreeders may be members of several flocks, with a different position in the dominance hierarchy of each flock.

Hi Mario,
Excellent shot of this cute looking Black-capped Chickadee in a fine pose. Very impressive sharpnes, details and colours on its plumage with perfect lighting and exposure. Great DOF and chosen POV and I like the OOF BG very much which illustrates the habitat well. Very nice composition. Kudos.

Hi Mario,
a superb shot of this little Chickadee, i love the pale blue background and the detail you have cuaght too. Perfect DOF and exposure, well done!
Paul

A wonderful (overused by me) image of the chickadee. You remind of the times my kids sent out invitations to graduations. We had 7 kids of course so 7 graduated not only from high school but 5 so far from college...and with those invitations (picture in your case) came this implicit knowing of who to send them too. One of my friends remarked with a smile on his face "You know who to send them to right Bob? You know I'm good for 20bucks!" It was a fun joke and yes I do think sometimes kids solicit in their pride, which is the normal thing to do...and this is your forum. These are your people here Mario. They/we know how good you are and each one is worthy of praise and yes...I'm good for two points!:-)

Hi Mario,

So many beautiful Chickadees! I especially like this one. The pose is wonderful. The colors are perfect. The face is so clear in this one with the eye shining through. The details of the face, wings and plummage are superb. And, of course, a marvelous composition.

Hello Mario,
The emaculate sharpness, the OOF natural BG, the pose, the lighting, composition and POV make this another extraordinary fine image of the Black-capped Chickadee.

Hi Mario,

I like very much this new photo from you. Composition is very good with that blurry branch underlining the sharp clear image of the bird. As usualy you have a very good way of using the light in your pictures. Also the delicate color tones are astonishing.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Good evening, Mario!

When you go through my gallery, you soon will realize that I'm not a specialist of wildlife photography. But I like visiting galleries of that kind and I would like to tell you that it is a particualr pleasure to go through yours.

This picture is typical for your photography: a fine composition, rich details and a delicate lighting combined with delightful colours!

I love it!

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Mario, this is a well composed pose of this chickadee, the lighting is good, and detail on the bird is very sharp and good and you've done a good job to mute the background through your selection of aperture. I thought the colour might be just a tad cool.

Thanks, John

Bonsoir Mario,

Excellent capture Mario!
This photo has some lovely blue tones and the way the Chickadee is puffed up suggests that is was very chilly when you took this!
Nice diagonal composition and a good POV.
A great BG that has been blurred perfectly by the superb DOF.
Great light and exposure... superb catch-light in the eye.
Impeccable image quality.
Very well done,
Joe

Bonsoir Mario,

Le mmésange àtête noire sur la branche attire notre regard. Il semble perdu dans ses pensées. Les détails et les couleurs de l'oiseau sont clairs et précis. La lumière rehausse la beauté des couleurs. Bonne soirée.
