A female common goldeneye duck. The golden eye makes a funny whisteling sound as it flies that is quite commical. Combined with their odd mating habits, this is one funny bird!

I have found the female goldeneyes much more tolerant of humans. Although neither were exactly tame, after sitting still for a while, the female would approach with 3-4 meters where the male kept back to 5-6 meters.

I like details on this photo and this small drop of water on its bill. It is only a shame that 'golden eye' is so white on this picture.

what a pretty girl you grace TN with in this beautiful photo of Ms goldeneye,she is lovely.This photo has a great point of view and you are so lucky to have got so close as the details are superb,I can see that black tip to her bill very well and the colour really pops!Thanks for sharing this little lady as she really is wonderful,I wish I could get so close.
