I have to tell you I am beginning to be quite happy with my new V-Lux 1 camera. I went taking a walk at the Chutes à Bull (Bull's Waterfall) and took some pictures and really, I really like them. It takes time to get used with a new camera. Today I went out with the Canon and truly, the V-Lux remains in my memory very strongly.

Here is a picture for you captured at the Chutes à Bull. It is incredible this year, even in the woods, the snow is about 4 feet deep. There is a trail made by people with snowshoes and sometimes we cross a small bridge and the snow comes up to the handrails. That height, yes!

It was also very windy yesterday, minus 10 Celsius with wind, imagine the chill factor! But underneath the tree canopy it was fine but no sun. Bbecause the wind was blowing so strongly the trees would lose their needles and cones, branches, they would lay all over the place on the snow. In this picture, you can see it if you look carefully.

Those trees are called Cedars here but in fact they are Thuja trees. In our northern forests, they grow in large number with big Pine trees and Spruces, mixed with maple trees, birch, larch, etc. Each time I go there, I see absolutely no animal life, neither birds or mamals. I once saw what seemed to be an otter or a mink, I don't know for sure. I shall go in summer to hear and see the birds as right now might not be the best of time.

The river bed and even the waterfall are actually iced, no water, nothing is flowing. The waterbed is filled with thick snow and the water underneath must be frozen. You can see, behind the Cedars on the picture, it is the waterbed... all white.

So I took this short and nice walk after driving in a backroad shared with snowmobiles. They call the area where I live the Snowmobiles Paradise ;-). A lot of tourists from France come in winter to live the joy of snowmobiles and dog slays. There is the snowmobile national trail right in front of my house. For this, the associations have to get the rights to cross in the villages and on the land of the people and farmers. And the backroad I am telling you about, it is very narrow and there are many turns and hills, so you have to be aware that anything can happen when you turn a curve.

That's it for today, it is Easter and for those of you celebrating, I wish you a very happy celebration.

thank you for reading!

bonjour Francine

Leica has such good and true glass. the colours are real, the focus is just right. Even teh notion that these are Cedar trees is full of good feel and smell....which really does come out on a hot summer day...very nicely done Francine. I am so happy you have found something you enjoy shooting with and causes you less physical problems!

Very atmospheric shot of this Cedar Tree forest.
I love the curly branches and the way they are semi-silhouetted.
Excellent clarity and sharpness from that superb Leica lens.
Good to hear you are enjoying it.
Thanks for sharing this Francine,

Joe
