Hi Rick,

He's wonderful! With his mouth open he seeems to be talking to you. Probably saying to back off. Wonderful details of his face and coat. Beautiful colors - the greenery sets him off so well.

I know, but I'll bet a bunch ask themselves the same question if they have never seen or been...why is a bear that looks brown called a black bear.....but as I said..I know and heck...tis a real long story and also some goofs in naturalists a long time ago as well.

Oh great...hey listen here...I am something but I have to admit I do listen to what are now referred to as golden oldie songs...but my notion is different than it was when I was a kid..Not like I am sitting here to listening to Guy Lombardo :-) Oh yeah...Nice image of course or I wouldn't be spending all this time here..and since your a close in person...and since I love these sort of capture...I guess you will assume I will love it Rick..You're quite a guy!

I almost ran over one of this younster when visiting Waterton Lake. I tried to get a photo of it but it went back in the bush, which is good for him. Very lovely image of this young bear. Perfect sharpness and clarity, beautiful and natural environment and colors. Thanks so much. I really enjoyed it.

This is indeed a huge but lovely thick furred animal, captured in a lovely pose between the greenery. I always have a feeling that bears are cute, even if it is huge and dangerous. Perhaps, the thought of a cuddly teddy bear is what I always see in my minds eye when I look at these photos. A well taken shot of this beautiful creature. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day.

what a great chance you have to meet in shoot in photo
such great wild animals, superb shot that for this kind
of photo in French we say « photo prise sur le vif »
(i can not do a good translation), excellent POV and framing,
excellent DOF, i love that green vegetation that is doing
great contrast with the bear's colour, great details of the fur, TFS

And yes,as Bob says, I do wonder why a brown bear is called a black bear!But I ain't getting into that, for the simple reason that I wouldn't understand if it were something scientific, if you know what I mean!
You've captured some great details, especially the mask, which is very sharp and detailed!

Hi Rick,
i love your Bear shots, you always capture them doing something interesting or least indulging in some sort of endearing behaviour! You know your quarry well, and where and when to find them.
This is a great shot too, really nice lush green setting with fine detail in that slightly bedraggled looking fur. First class.

This big bear in its environment is so nice to look at. It is such a huge animal and yet you get so close to them, unbelievable. He is "raw", his fur is all dirty and we can tell it's a bear who is living his life fully! Beautiful, great colours in dim light, thank you once more!
