Common Redpoll, bird of the tundra and the forests of conifers, winters in the south of Canada and the north of the United States. However, the number of these visitors of winter is always dubious. One year one sees of them only some and the following year they are legions. Common Redpoll come without fear to the mangers where the presence of human seems to leave them indifferent. 13 centimetres Common Redpoll have the gray and brown striped top. They have a red cap, a black chin and a rosy tail. The lower parts are strongly striped and certain males have the red chest. They eat buds, seeds of cones of bad grass and the graminaceous ones just as of the insects in summer. They attend the suspended mangers and platforms. They eat tallow, crumbs of bread and seeds, particularly seeds of Niger. They have difficulty in open seeds of sunflower, but they will eat peeled seeds or the crumbs left by the other birds. Spend the summer in the tundra and l"hiver in the forests of conifers and the courses of the suburbs. The female builds the nest in the fork of a tree. It is a cut without made consistency of brushwood, rootlets, grass and foam. Several nests can be built very close the ones of the others. Period of nesting: April at August Numbers brooded per season: 1 or 2 a Number of eggs by brooded: 4 to 7 Colors of eggs: greenish blue, mottled and made lines purple Duration of the incubation: 10 to 11 days by the female

Superb shot of the Redpoll, very well composed with the image nicely isolated from the BG, I love the cheeky pose with the bird giving you some attitude and excellent eye contact, very nice colours and light too, with sharp detail.

The shot is excellent, great DOF the entire bird is perfectly sharp. The colors came out excellent specially against this light BG. Nice POV and angle looks great, the details are amazing.

Looks like an Audubon painting.
The pose is very fetching, and adds to the simple, yet effective composition.

Scrolling through your gallery, I noticed just about all your photos are perfectly composed. You have an artist's eye. I think composition is one of my weaknesses but I'm working on it. The more we snap, the better we get.
Anyway, this is a lovely shot with perfect lighting and great details.
