Yes it's me, under Bob Shannons' spell, I have often wanted to show the landscape of my beloved Cypress Hills, but I finally decided my error was trying to capture it all at once, so here I tried just to show a tiny bit and I do like how the rising sun looks on the forest. I'm off to the land of the Stars and Stripes camping for a few days so I'm not to sure if I will be around much. I'm hoping to see if I can find some creatures in the USofA and hopefully the animal kind. So look out Montana the crazy Canuck is on his way.

Hi Rick,
this is a nice lay of the land shot showing layers of tree belts graduated from dark to light.I have always like the way light plays on trees and hills and this photo shows the effect well and I'm surprised by the amount of light that was available so soon in the day.For the f-stop used you somehow have managed a very decent field of depth, which is a revelation to me as to the power of the lens used. You and Lucy have a safe trip stateside and get an eye full of the good things there to find, your TN friend,Bob.Thanks for sharing this unstated photo.

Hi Rick,

Bob is having an effect on all of us!! I like the layers of colors and shadings and the different trees. The contrasts are wonderful. I wish you and Lucy a safe trip and hope you have a wonderful time in Montana.

Jane

What a thoughtful composition, Rick!
The barren white birches in the foreground contrast beautifully with the sunlit ones at the back.
Yes, "Bob's Effect" is quite strongly manifest in this composition :-)!
TFS and regards,
Ram

oooo.. where are you going? Lucky you with the exchange rate the way it is. Come on down and spend, spend, spend.

I love your photo with the white Aspen/birch? in front and the other layers of trees and light. It is a super landscape photo.

Thanks for sharing your hills... and have a great time in the States! Don't take all the photos of Montana. Leave some for me!!! We're going to Glacier in June (Yellowstone in May and Utah in April.) I'll probably be gone when you get back to TN.

Evelynn : )

That's a beautiful shot with those curly trees. I think it would look better with about 1/2" taken off the bottom though to bring out the trees more. I hope you post more of these trees. TFS Trevor

Hi Rick,
looks like a wonderful area that Cypres Hills and we can see in your pictures the animals think so too.
You did a wonderful landscape, love the different layers of textures and colors.
Nice work.

Hi Rick.
Nice photo of this beautiful place, I guess there is A Lot to see there.
Good luck in You next trip and safari photo.
Say Hi for me to Lucy.

Ahhhh...well I think vertical was well chosen. I know how hard it is sometimes..Vertical takes a lot of thinking for me..and twice as hard when using HD or 16:90 which gives the image a pano in vertical...but as I say ...you handled this one wisely using the colours well for separations and trees to ground coverage...Very nice Rick!

Hello Rik,
Lovely landscape showing fine warm/cold contrasting colours. I like the different layers of trees and the white trunks of the Aspen are very beautiful. A crop above their crowns would make another beautiful shot!
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Rick, I like the layered effect you have on this one. Going for the portrait format works well here. With your excellent early morning timing, you have a great transition from the snow on the bottom, up through the birch in shadow, to the conifers, and then to the conifers in light; from cold to warm, or from winter to spring almost. It's a neat effect. Depth of field works well here giving us good visibility throughout.

Thanks, John

Hello Rick,
what a fantastic shot!
I love the two contrasts of the image: The lower half is a cold, harsh scene with blue tones while the upper half is a peaceful golden scene with rich yellow tones... FAB!
Superb composition as well.
Great clarity.
Very well done,
Joe
