Hello, today here in Montréal's area finally we had
a GREAT spring day, i went up on photo hunting
and had shoot some few pics i am very happy

in the morning i went to Boisé Papineau,
there i saw the Groundhog, i shooted from far
then in my approach he enter on his hole,
few minutes later he went up his head
and i shooted in photo, technically it is not a
perfect composition but i decided to post
that image next year on the « Groundhog Day »

in Boisé Papineau, i saw Roger (RP1)
and we took a walk to hope to see the male
of the Great Horned Owl or to see the
Pileated Woodpecker, we where lucky we saw
the Pileated Woodpecker and shooted in photo,
i kept only 2 photos that i will post soon

Roger with his Canon EOS 40D was shooting
totototoc totototoc several images in one second
and he did great shots that on one of the images
the Pileated Woodpecker it is launching his cry,
AOUTCH what a great image, i told to Roger
« please post that image in TN »
it is not posted yet and i hope he will do it

in the biggining of the afternoon i went alone to the
Nature Park where is the pond for the Wood Ducks,
there i saw American Robins and i shoot in photo
2 of them, one of that photos is my today's posting

photo shot in JPEG and at ISO400
(i did not doubled the zoom)

from the Hinterland Who's Who website
here is a very interesting paragraph, the difference
of our Robin and the one in England and Europe :

« The American Robin Turdus migratorius is one
of the best-known birds in North America.
It was given its name by the early settlers,
who thought that, with its reddish breast,
it resembled the English Robin. However,
the American Robin is a thrush, not a robin,
and except for the colour of its breast, it does
not look like the small brown European bird. »

Hi Asbed,

You had a good day today! The wind gusts were so strong here the birds didn't show up. It looks like it might have been windy there too by the look of the Robin's plummage. Beautiful bird in a great pose on the leafless tree. Sharp details and nice colors. Looking forward to more from today's shoot.

Jane

Asbed,

Spring is near my friend! I saw a few robins around here a few days ago, along with red winged black birds AND a turkey vulture! I got a picture of the red wing but it wasn't anything special thus no good for TN.
Anyways, that's a cool picture. It is so nice to see some of the 'spring' like birds on TN again. TFS!

Best Regards,

Martin

Hello Asbed

The colours are wonderful, the red is srtiking against the beautiful blue sky.
Very well composed in a natural setting.
I am seeing large flocks of robins, they are waiting for the snow to melt too.
