The boreal Gossip is a semi-migrating frugivorous sparrow living in taïga of Scandinavia and Russia. He usually spends the winter to Central Europe but each 30 or 40 years, when the falls of snows are abundant there, he comes in a number as far as France. Its plumage is beige and pink salmon; some feathers of its wings are finished by a small stripped part similar to a red wax droplet. It settles when the climatic conditions are with bragged and is very easy to drive out not very apprehensive bus, being posed per tens on the same tree. It was associated misfortune, in particular with the plague (Dutch Pestvogel), by the humains[1 ]. Nowadays it is a protected species. In ordinary time, it nourishes primarily bays or fruits of winter. In period of reproduction, it becomes insectivorous. Its life expectancy is 13 years. Certain old works refer under the name of Jaseur of Bohemia there.

Hi Michel, Beautiful image of this Waxwing though it is a Bohemian Waxwing I believe. I see no pale yellow abdomen and the russet/orange forehead and rear is of the Bohemian. I like how you got it with it's beak open and about to devour the crab apple. Great color and detail. Nicely composed as well.

Yes it's Cedar Waxwing time again.
Love to see all those beautiful images of this lovely bird again.
This one is no exception.
Wonderful colors, clarity and details.
Pity there is an out of focus twig in the background, but it does'nt effect the beauty of the image to much.
Lovely shot with the bird throwing aberry in to it's throat.

Hi Michel, excellent timing to capture this Cedar Waxwing eating the cherries, not only did you catch him with his mouth full but he was just in the process of popping it. The colour in this shot is fabulous with excellent saturation found on the bird himself and the cherries still on the tree. Exposure is very good, even with this difficult white background, giving us excellent detail on the bird. Very nicely done.

Super capture of the moment!
The berries are great source of food for some of the birds during snowy season, but I'm surprised to see there still are some left as late as April...
