It's Getting Near Dark

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hi Everyone, today I have a first for me and it was a tough photo to get. This is a photo of the largest rodent in Canada called the beaver and they can be found everywhere in my country from the Pacific to the Atlantic. What you are viewing really is the very first shot I have ever taken of a beaver and I was so thrilled to have been able to make the capture in the most difficult light I have ever taken of wildlife in.I care not in the slightest for using flash but with this shot I had no choice.
The beaver did not like me in the slightest as two times it used it's large and flat paddle shaped tail to slap the water hard enough to try and warn or ward me off,it worked as I have respect for our wild friends and do not want to cause them undo stress. In the end for me personally it really does matter much about the lack of detail or of bright colours as anytime I get something new_it really makes my day.Know this however and that is I will try and get these creatures in the bright light of day but none for me personally will be as special as this-my first photo of a beaver.I hope you understand my enthusiasm as I'm sure there are times when you have had similar experiences.PP was done with Paint.Net.I will endeavor to make an effort to get back to everyone of you for your comments and critiques deserve to be answered back,so until I do, I will not upload any thing new,respectfully-Bob |

Hi Bob , I can relate to your enthusiasm , I was pretty excited at my first beaver photo. They make for good subjects , they have habits.
very interesting creatures , they have a huge impact on an area , some of the ponds and ravines on our pathways here are formed from beaver's , I am hopeful for high water come spring run off so the ponds are replenished even though it makes some of the area harder to access...
looks like we are getting snow instead of rain :-/
thanks for the share
regards

I think this is a wonderfully interesting shot - it's one of those photos that puts you there - sitting near the river in the evening, looking out over the distance and there comes the beaver! :)

Hello Bob,
Congratulations for getting your first Beaver shot very successfully under such difficult condition. You have done a great job at such low light. I can very well understand your enthusiasm and I am sure we all have experienced it at some time or other in wild life photography.;)
Excellent picture with good POV and DOF. Good composition too.
Thanks for the share,
Smitha.

Hello Bob
Very atmospheric and moody.
The water has a lovely dark and artistic look to it.
A wonderful head on look at this industrious beaver too.
Very good low POV.

Hi Bob,
I think the blue of the water is very artistic, and the rodent is so cute. :)
