« The woodchuck Marmota monax —sometimes called groundhog—
is a rodent and belongs to the large group of mammals Rodentia, which includes squirrels, prairie dogs, and chipmunks. Within this
large group the woodchuck is considered one of the marmots.

This animal
• is sometimes completely black or completely white
• is one of Canada’s largest true hibernators
and the subject of a great deal of medical research
• spends much of its time eating and sunning when
not hibernating or caring for young
• is the major hole-digging mammal over much
of eastern North America, and in some places in the west,
providing all sorts of animals with shelter »

Hello Asbed,
Wow, what a well-timed shot catching this little one as it pops up out of the snow. It doesn't exactly look like spring but I suppose he can smell it! :-) Lovely capture of the profile sharply in focus. Fine details and colours too.
Many thanks, Ulla

That's pretty cute. Reminds me of the classic buried in the sand at the beach shot. It sure would have worked on groundhog day as well, but beyond the Bill Murray movie, I do not put much faith in that:-) I did love the movie though..Very nice!

Hi Asbed.
I like your true wild shot and cute pictured moment. It is wonderful. I also like superb exposure and details. Both the animal and surrounding not the cleanest snow are detailed perfectly. Excellent job. My compliments.
