Hello TN friends, here is the female Purple Finch to follow on my post of yesterday.

She is very pretty even though no red appear in her plumage. This was a rainy, just like today. There were about 10 Purple Finch at once during the day. Pretty soon I will be seeing a lot of them with the juveniles.

I really like this picture for its simplicity, the simplicity of this kind enough female to let herself being photographed.

I am also posting to you pictures of a rare sight in the workshop, two pictures I took at the feeder, at night, of a Southern Flying Squirrel. What a surprise it has been for me to find out, one evening, this "beast" at the feeder. I didn't even know there were flying squirrels around here. I invite you to go and take a look even though the pictures are blurred because I did fast, without a tripod, because I knew he would leave if I took pictures. In fact, he stayed a little bit, long enough for me to take about a dozen pictures. I shot it with the Leica V-Lux 1 in jpeg.

Hope you enjoy and spend a relaxed Sunday,

Francine

Hi,
This is a soothing and serene shot with the green of the nature and rain drops announcing the cool atmosphere around.Looking at this picture is a pleasure especially during the scorching summer here. You have captured the mood fantastcially with dripping rain drops from the branches that look slightly mossy. The lady herself look gracious and there is somthing about her pose that looks elegant with the head turned at just the "right angle".The blurred BG focusses the attention completely on the subject.Great contrast, PoV and good DoF.This one has to go to my favourites Francine.
Thank you for sharing this.
Cheers
P.S:Those flying visitors like yours are seen in this country too:)

HI Francine
A great photo in difficult light conditions. I like the POV and lovely natural background on this one which complements the bird.
Cheers
Sue

Hi Francine, I see the Finchs arrived at your place! Very nice image showing well the female colorations and form. I like the eye contact, open view on the larch branch as well as the off center composition you used. Interesting, almost mysterious, BG and it is well isolated. Well done, Tfs Richard

Bellissima cattura sotto la pioggia, ottimi POV e composizione con rametto orizzontale e postura eretta, buona nitidezza e belli i colori e BG. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio.

Le colours are TRES' Good Francine...As I have mentioned..I was preoccupied this day so am late....but the colours are a match in their opposition...contrasting in a pleasing way and yet still sharp on the bird....Super duper! BTW we used to say Mal as in the head..and I notice you use a word coucou or some such is that same?
Bob

Hi Francine,
very nice dull light shot of this little finch and taken with an iso of 800 and yet without any graininess.A good photo with plenty of detail and nice rainy day colour and that doesn't stop the bird from singing or you from taking photos, glad you did and thanks for sharing this. Bob

As a comment, my first for you, it looks as if the bird is aware of you. It seems an image that is just moments away from a bolting bird. I can see why it is a favorite of many here. Everyones comments seem justified. I hope some day to be able to sjare raw nature as you have with the great people here.
